    Advertising actually creeps me out

So after deciding to give 2142 another go, i used some of my unlocks on my second account and gave the SAAW a go (I still can't bloody use it) and joined a the map, "Bridge of Remagan" or whatever its called.

Whilst zipping down the roads on the hachimoto i saw this sign..

"Interesting"...i thought, prossibly the first advert that might actually appeal to me seeing as im about to start University.

As i continue to play i then see this...

    W...T...F...

How many adverts? The fact they know how old i am and im at the age that i would be going to university is scary in itself but they don't half lay it on you do they.

I wonder how much EA and Lloyds TSB will earn from this..

I know... after a 3 month break I come back to see 'Lloyds TSB' spammed over the maps.

    Sucks tbh :/

Now Now, lets keep the paranoia down a bit
The spyware myth was dispelled long ago, LLoyd has probably just decided that the BF2142 player base contains many potential customers.

But otherwise please continue to bash EA and their no-obtrusive ads which each has been carefully reviewed so they are appropriate to the game and blend in.:p

It's 2142, the world is in the grip of a global conflict. The soldier's on the field need student accounts. Fekkin nonsense.

Fortunately - I have never seen an ingame ad, ever!

Yeh first time I see it as well. Only thing Ive seen was Dell. And that wasnt sp@mmed acros the boards. Maybe it wasnt dell but gforce or something.

Anyway, its sad that its sp@mmed like that. I wouldnt mind 1 or 2 of those and than 2 or 3 others acros the map.

For the realism point of view: Battlefield aproaches warfare realistic but not as diehard as rainbow six. You still feel like playing a game. So I dont mind the crazy adds.

in Australia we don't have any of these ads except the ones that advertise movies because of your anti-spy and advertising laws.

I don't mind the adverts, but that's way too many of the same subject. I'd rather see different ads.

Yeah different ads please. Many different ads > the same ad plastered hundreds of time over.

Can't you see the obvious reason for this?

Even EA has finally realized what kind of morons run free on the servers, and now thay're promoting this educational stuff in hopes of outting some ommon sense into them

Reminds me of a the classic Simpsons episode 'Homer the Clown'
In the middle of driving down the highway, Homer skids to a halt in
                        front of a billboard.

Homer: [gasps] It must be the first of the month: new billboard day!
[a car-carrying truck stops behind him]
[a bunch of cars drive onto it accidentally]
Driver: Heh heh heh...finders keepers. [drives off]
Homer: [reading] "This year, give her English muffins." Whatever you
                        say, Mr. Billboard! [skids off]
[stops suddenly at another billboard for barbeque sauce]
[cars collide behind him and explode]
Homer: [reading] "Best in the West." Heh heh heh, that rhymes!
[looking at the next one] "Clown college"? You can't eat that.
                        -- Homer's billboard-judging criteria, "Homer the Clown"

Your forgetting the scene after that where Homer is at work and sitting around him are all the products and more that he saw on the billboards

I like the ads. I laugh everytime I see one of my teammates stop to look at an ad only to be thrown back into a wall by a Zeller headshot.
