    2142 is getting stale.

I've ranked up one guy to BG and another almost there but anymore I'm just bored with it all. Where's the new content? Where's the new patch? Where's the next booster? Heck I'm not even hardcore. I used to play a couple hours a night but recently I'm down to maybe a couple hours a week.

I'm so bored with waiting for new games that I fired up SupCom and HL2 and have been playing those in my spare time and not 2142 or even BF2.

EA, you hear that sound? That's your fan base slowly getting quieter and quieter...

Don't get alarmed if you don't feel like playing 2142. It's perfectly natural to want something else for a change. :)

I understand you frustration, but it's a bit ironic that we either have posts like this (when new content hasn't been released for a while) or the threads saying "why did they release it already when it's clearly not ready yet?!?" (the following weeks after new content has been released)

I can assure you: the developers won't hold any content in their "back pocket" without a good reason, and they won't put out anything incomplete just for the fun of making patches in the future :)

This sentiment is being shared by many others as apparent in the lack of activity in this forum (or any other forums for 2142)... the causes vary but much of the 'blame' rests on EA/DICE.

The game was preceeded with a lot of hype, followed by decent sales, then came the inevitable bugs and the lackluster acceptance from many of the hardcore BF2 players to the new arena and gameplay. Add to that the lack of new compelling content (that the majority of players actually play) stagnancy is expected.

This 'stagnancy' is not helped any by EA/DICE because community interaction from them has been sporadic and often sparse. We have a news ticker in-game that rarely get any news, we have a whole 'news' section in-game that got the last update in March (if I remember correctly), and we have the debacle surrounding the much hyped 'Supreme Commander' appointments. The game itself is good but even a good game can get tiring when the company that put out the game seems to show so little interest in the community that plays it... it's as if they themselves (EA/DICE) have already gotten bored with the game.

Even a simple thing as the 1.4 beta... hype it up... give people a taste of it in beta... then zip... nada... nothing... not even a single update of how the beta is going. How do they expect to maintain interest in the game when they do not do enough to 'engage' the players?

Would be fun to get a straight yes or no to the new content question. I'm getting pissy waiting on something that may or may not happen.

          Amen to that DeathEngineer.

I still enjoy the game though. But when it wasnt released yet they hyped it, giving you a feeling that they'd manage the game and making it in a sort of mmorpg experience

*Runs to bedroom and cries on pillow*

Well of course dude, all games get boring after a while. Go buy Bioshock AKA Biorootkit or something.

Adding more maps would have helped this game out - how much is unknown. But consider back months ago when I brought up an idea to hold a mapping contest. The 3 top maps would be included in a patch or released as an official map pack. The creators would be given recognition and thats it. That saves the company money and everyone gets free content.

Would it be that much of a challenge to hold a competition every 3 months and add 12 new maps over the course of one year? I doubt my interest in this game will last too much longer with the same old stuff.

Yup, now that I've hit BG I only pop on for a round or 2 every once-in-a-while.

My problem is I don't have many games to fall back on. BF2 is getting old, and I've played the CoD series to death 2 times over.

They will HAVE to add some new content if they don't want this game to die. I mean, a beta that's 3 or 4 months in development with no updates? They are dumping the game.

I agree, how many hours how have you actually spent on this game to become BG x 2?
Of course it will be getting stale after this amount of time, just move on to the next game. And don't give me the excuse that there is nothing interesting coming out. If you are a casual gamer (like me) then there must be a ton of older games you never got around to playing, which you now can get cheap.

If we want a steady stream of new content, then we need to look at one of the subscription games.
With games like BF you get what's in the box, boosters etc. are extras that are nice, but in no way mandatory.

I think EA´s fanbase has gotten plenty of entertainment for their $50

This is a good point. I've gotten hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of this game. I think most folks just want some new content.

The Conflict 2142 mod added some new life for me, but almost no one is actually playing it. The First Strike mod should release soon and that's a definite DL for me! :yay:

Anything DICE/EA could do to allow for community-involved content creation would be cool.

I would love to see some more maps, BF2 always had some great maps, I loved Karkand and Sharqi Penisula (spelling)

Only thing that keeps me playing is trying to get into the top 100 of snipers.

Why not run a competition for Map makers/ modders to send in there maps. A short while later after some testing fiddling from the DICE team and there you have it a map made 'by the community, for the community'

Oh and if you havent already... Join a clan... or possibly make your own?
