How do I register BF2 with BF2142

I see lots of people with a red 2 by their name, and I vaguely remember something about getting extra points if you have Battlefield 2. I have it, and I was wondering how do I register that with 2142 so I get my red 2 and the extra points?

You cannot register an existing soldier, but if you create a new one on the same account, all soldiers should get the "2"
The extra points just means that you start as private instead of recruit, so you aren't missing much.

I don't know if it still works but it doesn't hurt to try.

Well my BF2142 soldier is brand new so I'm not going to be losing much either.
