encountered first hacks (not whining!)

So, might have run into my first hackers last night, REALLY lame. Any information would be appreciated.

I was playing Camp G, I thought it was odd that I blasted a guy in the back and then received punishment for TK. Weirder things have happened, so I didn't think much of it. Later in the round I apparently shot the same guy, who came on VOIP and said "Stop shooting me, we're black... I know I don't have any tags." (I'm pretty bad about not knowing who's wearing which uniform, I basically just look at tags I guess.)

Anyway, whats that about?? I can't believe someone would willingly remove their tags and THEN punish for a TK. Wtf.

I switched servers after that to play some Titan. Shortly into the round I pod onto our titan to find an empty transport, awesome. So I jump in, position it just right and man the guns. First guy pods onto the roof and I follow him with a trail of gunfire all the way to the corridor, into which he jumps, miraculously unharmed. I let this slide without thinking much about it too. I watch the next guy pod down, he literally stands there for 4 seconds without moving as I blast him with the gun. Full fire, right on his chest / head. He apparently figures out who is shooting him and in 1 second blows me away with his ganz, I was on full health as well as the transport.

At that point I just quit playing. I'm not here to whine, just wonder if you have any ideas what was up with that. First one especially, I'm willing to chalk the second one up to lag or something... although I've pulled that transport move enough times to know how easily I can mow people down.

Hope I don't run into any more things like that.

Ok right with the transport there has been a known bug in one of the gun seats (maybe F2) where it's gun doesn't do any damage

F3 seat on the EU transport (the one with the gatling guns). The weird part is that you'll see sparks and stuff like the bullets are hitting, but no hit indicator on the crosshair.

Well, thats unfortunate. :) I'd much rather have them be explained away as in game bugs than a hack. I've never encountered that before.

So, why would you have your tags removed? I'm assuming it affects how players on the other side view you as well?

Does the F3 bug happen all the time or just occassionally? I'll have to remember to stay out of that seat!

i think bf2 sometimes had this glitch, people would have red names, and apparently be on my team. of course i killed them first thing..... then found out they were on my teaam.... oops...

I assumed it might be something that also prevented the opponent from seeing him in some or all situations.

It might not be a hack but could be a bug. Someone else might have shot him a few times and informed him he had no tag or someone might of told him in his squad using VOIP.

It's not a hack. When a player switches sides or is switched by the server, sometimes they lose their IFF tag. I have seen it happen to others and it has happened to me. All the situations you describe are known bugs, not hacks.

You instantly know where they are, after you figure out that they aren't on you team of course.

One suspects half the team had been firing shots at him, so he was not unaware of his lack of tags.

This IS a hack. Not sure which hack does this, but one of the latest releases allows you to mask your name (so you can't be reported). PROOF:

He was using his leet commander hacks too (An OS every 2 seconds, Supply crates all over his goliath, our walkers couldn't get out of the EMP storm... You know how it is :cry:). Every time one of us would apply for commander, BOOM demoted. Everything the hack sites promised, he was doing to us :cry: Strangely enough, our team won anyway (It was like 10-0) :p
