    Pro mod

Since there's a thread on Clan Mod, I though I might as well make one on pro mod. This is a thread about how much we LOVE the pro mod.

I like the way you can actually select what you want to some degree.

The mod is not that different from pubs.

No Northern Strike unlocks and limited weapon availability mean that Pro mod sucks. I realize the alternative (having to earn unlocks by playing ranked) is not ideal either.

There's no good reason for dividing up the weapons or excluding NS unlocks so Pro fails horribly at what it attempts to do.

If EA would let us enable all unlocks in unranked servers, then there wouldn't be as much need of clan/promod. Then again, if they did that, everyone would be playing unranked and that would throw ranked servers out the window.

Now for my views on Promod.
Weapon sounds - awesome and sexier than vanilla
        No stock snipers - bleh
No APMs - APMs are much easer to defeat than in BF2, crouching and crawling ftw!
        No Ganz -
The 2 teams getting different unlock rifles seems a bit lame to me
Stock ARs are still there, that's nice.

It's impossible to put NS upgrades in a mod. It's content of EA and illegal to distibute in a mod.

Ganz,APMs and snipers are practically useless as far as matches go. And I don't pub w/ the Pro mod. Noone does. It's really good for matches tho'.

            Incorrect.

You can add NS Unlocks to any BF2142 mod since it is available with the patch.

I've been paying attention to the pro matches lately and I've notice the lack of sniper usage in BF2142 matches. Do you know why that is?

In CoD or CS pro matches you regularly see snipers in use and those guys are incredibly accurate and fast. I saw a CoD match just a week or so ago and saw a player climbing a ladder then jumping off of it while spinning around and headshotted a guy with the sniper... while he was still falling:shock: OK, so you can't jump and shoot in 2142 but what about the other more common scenario where a sniper train his rifle at a small opening (just a few pixels wide) waiting for the enemy to run/jump accross.. and sure enough... BOOM headshot. How come we don't see any of that in 2142 pro matches? Is the 2142 sniper rifle that inferior? Is it because of the motion sway? Or is it simply the lack of interest from the pro CoD/CS snipers to get into 2142 at all?

Just something I've been wondering for a while.

[Edit] Or simply because the sniper rifles are not available in ANY competive match?

Head hit boxes on 2142 are HORRIBLY small, in fact you can HS a standing guy and watch him, just stand there.

The other reasons are the low damage, small clip, slow bolt, sway and the inability to revive.

Plus hitboxes are alot more "draggy" on 2142 engine, and the lead is always changing (I'm talking about getting running HS')

If they made hitboxes more like Source the sniper would be GREAT.

Unless you're playing competition than it puts everything on an even kilter.:salute:

Because ticket bleed is very important in comp. If a sniper takes someone out chances are there is someone close that will revive him before the sniper can reload. And honetsly that's pointless because score doesn't matter and your opponent keeps a ticket.

Sniper rifles are not very effective at the ranges where you'll be fighting at in bf2142, and while they are better at picking off people at range than the VOSS/baur/Cry, people can easily avoid your shots when they know you are there. Next to that headshots are nearly impossible to make when people are running across your field of vision.

So one might as well toss a grenade, or fill the air with lead using assault/support.
