  • Motion Mines - What triggers them ?

I have thrown a stack of Motion Mines at the base of an active Enemy Walker and they just sit there on the floor. Aren't they supposed to magnetically home in on the walker and it be unable to outrun them ?

Is there something I am missing ? Will they fail to be triggered if you throw them too close to the target or something ?

They take a few seconds to arm, so if the walker moves away the second you throw them down, he might be able to move out of their detection radius.

Also if the vehicle sits perfectly still they won't be activated.

Yep but usually the mines will effectively force the enemy vehicle to be motionless, because all vehicles except the FAV will sound an alarm when the mines are activated. This makes it easy for you to shoot at him with your primary engy weapon, and it makes it easier to go for the "soft spot" of the target e.g. walkers knees, which are quite hard to hit if it's constantly moving and you're a bit farther away from it.
