Motion mine kills are a lot harder these days

The motion mine bait has made getting MM kills much more difficult, especially if there is an engineer in the gunner seat of the target vehicle. He just jumps out, tosses the bait and jumps back in. An SMG can't kill the guy quick enough unless he is right next to you. Meanwhile you can't move close to him or the driver blows you away. Even if the driver is the only guy in the vehicle, it is pretty safe for him to jump out and toss the bait.

Back when you had to clear the mines with the diffuser, it was so dangerous the driver usually didn't dare get out - leaving the vehicle vulnerable to pilum fire. Now the mines are cleared so fast the vehicle only needs to stop for a couple of seconds.

The balance is now tilted a little in favor of the vehicle whores - but I guess since the guys with the MMs are probably also vehicle whores, it just has the net effect of moving engineers off of the streets and into armor.

I love those little soccer balls of death - too bad they have essentially been nerfed.

Motion mines have not been nerfed. Just place them wisely and not in the open middle of the road.
If placed with some brain it will be too late for the armor crew to toss a MMB when they hear the warning beeeeep.

Big MM kills come from hiding them near silos, where an over-eager transport pilot forgets that they also target aircraft.

From what distance will vehicle attract the MM's?

I've always preferred the FAV-Mine Bait :p Drive an FAV amidst the mines full speed, hop out once they lock and listen to the explosion

It's all about placement, don't put them where they can be seen :)

              I think it's closer to 15 meters. At least 10 (I think).

                10 - 15 is too much, most likely 3 - 4.

I find placing them further away from the silo is working quite well have a look at the 'motion mines my new tactics' thread in the tips section for ideas....the days of just throwing them down in a pile and reaping kills are gone Im afraid ps I still think these are about the coolest weapon on the field

could u place MM´s in the 3rd seat on the FAV and roll around a walker or tank an they would hop out while u are speeding away?

You can hide them in the backseat, but as soon as you move the FAV, they all fall off of it.

In the beginning i would get kills like crazy with the MMs, but people started to get wise to them. So i had to resort to hiding them well, i don't get as much kills as i use to but i still get some.

                        Tuck your balls away :)

Team up with support or medic in an FAV so you can toss MMs out of the back. That lets the medic heal, the support rearm you, and you can repair the FAV and drop MMs while it's moving.

I haven't used MMs a lot yet, but having learned from my buddy who plays engineer a lot, it definitely doesn't pay to just dump them in the middle of the road anymore, or near flags/silos, because just about everybody expects them there now.

Place 'em behind blind spots that are along the paths vehicles tend to travel (like piles of debris or the blind-side of a wall or tree), but not too close to the flags or silos, where people in the vehicles pretty much keep their eyes peeled for them.

If I am in a hurry I still throw those motion mines in the middle of the roads and by silos. Not everyone plays engineer and not everyone uses motion mine bait therefore you probably have a 1/6 of a chance (random guess) that the mines will be destroyed.
