Official EA news about actions against Knife & Pistol and padders.

Maybe was posted but here I go if you missed this:

    July Reported Servers and Players

We wanted to update you all on our ongoing efforts being taken to punish cheating and padding players and deal with servers that support such activity.

In the month of July the EA tech support team processed 103 reports of Battlefield 2 servers breaking the ROC, such as knife and pistol servers. 310 reported cheating or padding players were processed with many of them subsequently being stripped. We’ve also implemented an improved system for actively targeting knife and pistol servers which should speed up the process of shutting them down.

12 Battlefield 2142 servers were processed as were 150 players, again with a number of those players being stripped when it was determined they were exploiting, padding or cheating.

We process every report of cheating that we receive however we feel that there are many more out there to catch. As such we'd encourage Battlefield players to report any cheaters or rule-breaking servers they find while playing online. We want to see the above numbers go higher as much as you do - the fewer cheaters out there the better the game is for everyone.

If you believe a player is cheating, padding or exploiting, or that a server exists with rules or admins that support such activity, please report it to the EA Customer Support where it will be investigated and dealt with as appropriate.

I always said that reporting them directly to EA Customer Support provides some results unlike the unofficial reporting sites.

Now ban me for saying the truth...

Exactly. Well said. This just proves that all the people who used the correct channels to report these people directly to EA have made a difference.

Bah. Personally, I don't give a damn about K/P servers. They don't make the stats system any more bogus than it already is, and they don't affect gameplay in normal servers.

The exploits that ruin my gameplay experience are stuff like pod-surfing, RDX hopping, and roof camping.

one would think, that an EA dude could spend maybe just 15-30min. of their working day.... to join servers which say knife/pistol/shotgun/sniper rifles only.

they could join, check the rules.... and decide if it breaks the ROC.

i mean, if one person did this, they'd probably catch a server every 3-5 minutes. they could drastically cut down these types of servers if they just spent a little time hunting for them. ya do this over a few weeks, and that 30min a day = a LOT of servers shut down. just my two pennies.

This is what I was thinking. I mean, they advertise the fact that they're K/P servers in their server names for goodness sake, and at any given time there are dozens of them... hard to miss.

I've never rented/owned a server before, do they make these rules clear when you're setting up a ranked server?

maybe if they spent 15-30 mins a day to make a editor for BF2142 or tools for that matter. Well the rest is history......

pod surfing is the only one I would consider an exploit there, but lets not start a flame war/thread,or shall we heh heh:evil:

I find Pod-surfing and RDX hopping irritating, but not really roof camping. If they manage to get up there (WITHOUT pod-surfing, of course), that's fine. If they kill me with a shot from a roof, or a shot from around a corner, I'm just as dead and I'm just as cursing myself for not keeping my eyes peeled.

A good orbital or pass by a gunship or transport will take care of 'em either way.

That would be too much work for EA. They probably picked shortest sticks to see who would check the servers, then decided to just sip on some coffee and forget about it.
