Q: Dropped items remaining after death?

I really apologize as I'm sure this is answered somewhere but the search terms to find it could be many different things and I've had no luck.

How long do motion mines, ap mines, etc last if you die? Gone immediately? Stay indefinitely?

    Any info would be appreciated.

I believe that APMS persist until you drop your new ones. I know I have had kills with APMS placed before being killed. Motion mines same kind of thing. I often spawn in as engineer to deal with a rampaging walker and then switch back to regular kit when I die. However if you switch kits I'm pretty sure your MMs disappear.

Its linked to the kit, not the person. So if you pick up another recon kit you can lay the 2 APMs of his but they'll disappear when the kit fades away. (about 2 minutes)

I think they will persists as long as you spawn with the same kit.
E.g. I use the IDS a lot, and it seems to remain even though I perish.
But if I spawn as anything but support it will go poof shortly afterwards.

I always chuck new Motion mines down even if the last ones are still there as they only seem to last a minute after you respawn.

I am not entirely sure, but I am pretty sure anything deployed by one kit will remain until you throw the same thing again. For example I switch between support and assault a lot when I play camp G, and I cant tell you how many times I may drop a med kit at the harbor, then die, respawn as support back at the ruins to get some guy who got through, and I will just start getting heal points. I would guess its the same for motion mines and APM, however I know the sentry gun for support has a limited time, so that will blow up regardless after 5 minutes or so.

It'd be pretty easy to test out these theories and work out for sure how it works. Anyone bored?

This is my expirence as well.

                Motion Mines on Berlin.
You know the APC is coming.
                You have the mines out.
                You get killed.
Spawn as engineer again to ensure the MM's previously layed stay put.
                *Kablamo* APC gone.

As far as I'm aware, any dropped items will only remain until your old kit fades away.

Ok, I just tested this on an empty server.
Kit fades 30 seconds after death (15 seconds after spawn), mines 30 seconds after that.
It made no difference wheter I spawned with the same kit or not.

                        Excellent information.

What we need is a timer in games that just starts when you begin playing, and keeps going up and up. It'd be easier to do stuff like judge when the next gunship is going to spawn, etc.

I used the timer in my watch when I was Gunship hunting with the SAAW.
Just sit reading a book or something. *Beeb*Beeb* Aim SAAW at Titan and waste Gunship as it took off.
                          Reset Timer and resume reading

I think I might just dig out a stopwatch. It would really, really piss off some guys who I often see playing if I were to just appear right on cue whenever the gunship spawns and blow it into smithereens. Especially if I'm in a gunship myself, making it a very trivial/quick matter.

I'm pretty sure theres a count-down timer right above the ticket counter.
