Can't log in, need new account

I'm new to BF2142. I just installed it, and ran latest patch. When I try to create a new account, it tells me it can't connect ot the master EA server and dumps me out. I've played BF2 and never had any of this crap. Can anyone tell me how I can get an account set up so I can play the game.

I dont recall it being any different than BF2.
Maybe the Master Server is down?
Try again later, and maybe check if BF2 is still working.

Did you install the game from a DVD or a download through EA Link?
