Random death messages while still alive?

Was playing on one of my normal servers yesterday (read: minimal lag)...

At least 3 times, I would be running/drive/flying around the map and get a "You were killed by xxx" (Different person each time, one was even a TK on an FF-off). I know it wasn't lag because up until the time I boarded th enemy Titan, I only died twice; none of these mysterious deaths were repeats of the real deaths (different weapons, different killers). Not really a big thing, but these did count as deaths on the scoreboard

Any idea what causes this?

Strangely enough ive had this happen to me a few times aswell, though im not sure the deaths were counted on the scoreboard

The same thing happened to me around the time I started having to connect to a server twice to actually join. The first time I join a server - any server - the music mutes, and it acts like its trying to connect, but then I get the "connection lost" window. Then I rejoin that server for the second time - every time - and it works just fine.

I've had that happen to me quite a few times as well, it doesn't really say which weapon killed you, it just displays [killed].

For me, it would say in the upper left of the screen. Like "Soandso [UAZ Ocelot] Yraen" or "Teammate [Teamkilled - UD 12 Transport] Yraen" and I was very much alive o.O

Usually you get [killed] with Orbit Strike or the Titan guns and turrets. For me it would display both on the upper left and center screen, weird.

Reported this on here a few weeks ago and nobody seemed able to accept it then. Guess it has gotten more common/noticed now.

It was especially odd to see while flying a transporter full of squadmates within the first few minutes of a round. We were alive the entire time before, during, and after the period where the message appears. None of us had died at any point so no, it has nothing to do with Titan guns, Orbital strikes etc. It's not caused by lag because again - NOBODY had died at this point.

I had an odd twist on this happen last night where I noticed my name appear as having killed someone with the hovertank. Why was this particularly odd? Well, because I was stuck out in the middle of nowhere on Minsk, completely alone at the time. Without a tank. I hadn't even been near a tank by that point.
This along with the new "First connect attempt always fails" bug seems to be a very recent thing.

Happened to me once whilst I was flying around Sidi in the Gunship, very much alive then it just popped up with you were killed by xxx, thought nothing of then a couple of minutes later it popped up again 3 times in quick succession.

I've had the converse happen too, where by You killed xxx pops up and there is no way that I have (no discarded mines or sentries that could have got me a random kill)

Good, its not just me with that problem then, started around the same time for me as well

Wait, this is a bug? I've had this for longer than I can remember now, and I always just assumed it was my router/wireless card.

I've had the "You've been killed by XXX" bug when I am still very much on my typical murderous rampage as well as the first connect attempt always failing. I recently moved and purchased a new router, so I had though that it may just be related to my new cable service or the new router. Apparently I was wrong.

For some reason for me, I killed someone with the RDX and it shows up on the top-left of the screen that I killed them with an Ocelot.

Another thing I've had happen to be 2 or 3 times is I've been killed twice the second I enter the map before I even get to spawn . Sometimes I even get -2 before I start which wrecks my head.

its happened to me a few times as well. the deaths don't count. when it happens, it seems to happen a few times during that round.

strange to be sure.

Last night on Port Bavaria I was on PAC and it said I team killed someone with the Goliath. Go figure that one out.
