Will bf recognize my firewire audio interface?

I'm new to gaming and just built my first PC. WHen I get home from work today I am going to install the drivers for my studio grade firewire audio interface.

I'd love for the audio from the games I play to be heard through the D/A conversion of my interface. Does that work? or does the game only allow for audio to be processed internally by the computer?

I wouldn't think that a Windows games recognize any hardware, but uses the DirectX api and leaves the rest to windows.
So if you can make it the default windows sound device you probably will be fine.
I am using a USB headset, which equals a soundcard on the USB port.

a usb headset works, so it seems as though I should be able to make it happen...

I hope so cuz (as a sidenote) the only thing giving me trouble with my new comp is the sound not working from the ASUS a8n32-sli delux MB I'm using. according to a google search, a very common problem with those motherboards.

Just out of curiosity what firewire audio interface did u get? I am thinking of getting one for my laptop for music purposes as well.

They make a cheaper one with less channels called the fireface 400- that you might like as well

Looks like my last post didn't work so well..

I got an RME Fireface 800. Just google it. It's sick, runs about $1500.

They make a fireface 400 as well that has a few less channels and is a bit cheaper...

If you're serious about recording some quality music don't skimp on the interface. Just my two cents.

I'll check out that website sometime The Fireface 800 looks pretty tasty . Tho i'm probably looking for something thats a bit more portable and compact. I had been looking at the the Alesis iO 14 and the M-Audio FW 410. The Fireface 400 is a bit out of my budget as there is still some other pieces of equipment I need as well.

well we've gotten a tad off subject here but between those two I'd go with the alesis. Twice the inputs plus you get insert points on all four channels which is important if you plan on buying any outboard processing like comps or reverb units...

Cheers for the advice man. I was favouring the Alesis anyway and now you've pretty much convinced me :)

I'm currently building my setup so it would be nice to have the option to use outboard processors if we decide to in the future.
