How to remove 1.4 beta?

Hi,

I haven't being keeping up with the latest in BF2142 as I haven't played in months. I wanted to jump back in today and upgraded to the latest files I found 1.40 beta. But once I logged on it seems that there are very few servers.

What is the easiest way to revert back to a previous version? Do I have to reload the whole game from scratch? What version should I be running for the best gameplay and most servers?
