EA Link downloading update then closing

    Hey, I have a problem.

I was trying to fix a BF2142 problem, and I uninstalled everything 2142 related, then after I reinstalled Bf2142, I never got around to reinstalling Northern Strike.

So my problem is that whenever I try to open EA Link, it updates, then it does that "Setup is preparing Install Shield Wizard" then it just closes after it is done preparing it, and nothing else happens. I don't freeze, I don't get an error message, I don't slow down at all, nothing.

Anyone know how to fix this? I'd be eternally thankful. :)

Sorry if it's in the wrong section, I was unsure about where to post this.

No, not there, but the update window is in the task bar, but then goes away after it updates and does the install shield wizard thing.

Well, I tried opening it again, and I noticed that the install shield wizard thing stays on my task bar for a few seconds after the window closes on my screen. But, of course, after a few seconds, that disappears as well, and nothing happens, still.

It is doing the same thing to me.

For instance whenever I boot up 2142 it opens a installation screen alt tab's me whenever I am at the login screen and then everything is fine.

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit

It does show up in my processes tab, but it vanishes as soon as the window does.

My EA Downloader does that, but one time I let it go for about 5 minutes and all of a sudden I got the instal screen. I think it minimizes and does a system check (seaching for other EA files or the registry) during this time, but the GUI doesn't let you know what's going on. It might help if you defrag before you run the Downloader.

                  Yeah, that didn't work.

                  Got any other suggestions?

                    EA link issue

I was having the same problem for a week. Then one day EA link stopped working. I uninstalled EA link and have been unable to reinstall. There was another thread on here (quoted below) but no resolutions. Anybody else?

"I am having a bit of a problem with EA Link and hope you guys can help.

I am trying to update EA Link to its latest version but when the installer starts it will extract EA Link.MSI and ISScript11.msi but after that the window closes and nothing happens at all. I have tried manually uninstalling EA Link as directed by the EA support site but when I run ead-installer.exe the same happens again! I am running Vista Ultimate and Kaspersky Anti-Virus (if that helps!)

                    Thanks,

                    kOna."

Yeah! Those .msi things are extracted or whatever for me too, but then nothing happens. =\
