I've seen players do a sort of drop and roll move a few times

Is it a button combo or just depending on location/circumstance eg. pressing z moving around a corner or something

Yeah I believe its the same animation as the BF2 dive n roll. You never see yourself doing it but you you will see others doing it.

Yeah, it's just normal proning. It was kind of dodgy in Battlefield 2 because you didn't get an accuracy penalty when proning, which was kind of crazy considering everyone is seeing the guy do an elaborate roll.

To answer the question, you can do it by going prone while you're strafing. Like AckAck said, you won't actually see it on your screen, but the enemies will see it. Honestly I didn't even know it was still there in BF2142 because unlike in BF2 nobody really goes prone during a gunfight like that (although you can usually tell a BF2 vet who's new at BF2142 because they always hit prone the second they see you out of habit ).

Reminds me of my old days... damn I KNEW that instaprone was bad for me (it was healthy for my M249 SAW back in my BF2 days), but I kept on doing it. Now when I play BF2 I always instacrouch o.0

Luckily I do crouch a lot but as I've been working on my Support Guy, I've been doing a LOT of proning because of the machine gun style. Now come to think of it, the Support MG's don't have kickstands for prone style aiming.

I also noticed I get killed VERY quickly when I'm prone. It's like an automatic headshot.

I realized the same thing about BF2 vets and all I do is smile as I crouch and waste them. No insta prone bonus there buddy. :laugh:

Yeah, when I played BF2 after playing BF2142 for months, my first instinct was to crouch during gunfights, and it kept getting me insta-killed by people rolling all over the ground or flopping on their stomachs 4 feet away from me. Then there was the time on Clean Sweep when I tried to open my parachute by mashing the spacebar. That didn't end well. :dead:

Yea Crouch is the way forward

The only time going prone works is when it's a voss noob, cos the voss never has a penalty with it's super enemy seeking rounds lol :laugh:

I played a few rounds of BF2 the other day and i just couldn't get used to proning i was just constantly crouching instead

I always prone in a fight but I'm a Clark'er and it makes no difference to me. In all my time on the field I don't recall seeing anyone do this roll of which you speak!
