    Interested in Comp?

    All:

I invite you all to our Vent on Wednesday nights to try your hand at competitive gaming. The format is 5v5 Infantry only and the rules can be found on Teamwarfare under 2142 5v5 Inf Ladder [basically no vehicles and no orb strikes]. Here is the idea:

    - Ill provide a private channel for your team to assemble in. Vent Server: silver.typefrag.com:17209 Pass: nm

    - You organize your team as you see fit and create your own strats to play the map.

    - Ill provide the map we will be competing on.

    - Ill provide the server for you to play on as well as the password to join the server. You are welcome to have an observer on your side, my Team will not. Any observer changing sides to provide intel to you will be kicked from the server. They are there to watch you play.

    - Start time would be 930 PM EST on our server.

    - You will not be harrassed on our server. This is competition and there is no room for that. We expect the same courtesy in return.

    - You are welcome to PB screenshots and demos. We do not tolerate cheating.

Do not forget, this is unranked so stats are not tracked. I look forward to those of you who wish to see what competition is like or would like to play an organized round of fun. Feel free to PM me if you like.

Not sure if my clannies would be able to meet that start time (we might have trouble filling out the squad without at least one or two from the West Coast, and that's a tad early for them), but out of curiosity (and keep in mind I've never done anything like this before), a couple of questions:
                      - does an unranked server mean there are no unlockable items used at all, or is everything always unlocked, or something in between?
                      - if all unlocks are available, does that include the NS unlocks?
                      - since it's 5v5, would the 16-player maps be the versions being played (makes the most difference on Tunis, since it's a completely different section of the map, not just a shrunken-down version of the 32-man size like the others)?
                      - is it a "twice-per-map, once-as-each-faction" kind of rotation, or something more arbitrary?

                      Thanks,
US.Trippet (guess maybe I should change my forum name one of these days)

All unlocks you have in the ranked servers will be unlocked in the unranked server, with the exception of the dogtagger dagger (oddly)
                        - if all unlocks are available, does that include the NS unlocks?
This is mentioned in the rules that SS refered to. Only passive NS unlocks may be used, so that means stuff like the IDS is not allowed, but the clip expansion for the SMG and PK's are

Yes, 16 man sized maps would be used

It's basically best of 3, one side chooses it's starting faction, and if it goes to the 3rd round then whichever team has the most tickets between both rounds gets faction choice

                        Thanks,

                        Hope that helped

Thanks to Auto for answering before I could. He hit the nail on the head.

My goal is to expose people who normally play a pub to check out a different concept when it comes to the comp side of the house. It is vastly more intense and alot more fun. This is where skill truly shines and teamwork will make or break you. Especially when it gets down to nailbiters - highly intense and you will be like "whoa! now that was kick a$$!" or maybe you wont. Who knows? Only you do.

If you are willing to swing by to give it a shot, the start time is tentative and we work with people on getting their team put together. Hell, it is very common when you compete, so why should it be any different. Now if you mean like 30 minutes or more, then tell us ahead of time and we can adjust.

The overall concept is to have people see much fun comp can be. If you dont like it, then you dont and no one is going to force you to think differently. I will say this - you wont ever look at a pub match the same again, lol. But how will you know if you dont get some of friends from here [or where ever] and try it out?

If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

The "vastly more intense" part scared me, but if by all of that you mean that it's different from trying to take 3 whole steps in an overcrowded 64- or 48-man Cerbere/Camp G round without getting shot by three different people you never saw - then I'm in. I'm not a bad player when there are objectives and room to accomplish those objectives and squaddies with whom to do it; but the mindless caffeine-fueled twitchy frenzy that those high-occupancy city maps devolve to is just madness - my brain and hands just don't work fast enough to keep up. I can usually maintain a 1.0 K/D in those rounds (barely) but it's just not fun for me. What you're talking about sounds like it might be up my alley.

Sounds like a plan - I'll try to make a point to stop by Wednesday even if my clanmates can't make it, to at least jump in and see what all the hubbub's about. :salute:
