HELP!! Re: Key binding and Vista

So I bought a new comp for my girlfriend's house as she had a mac and wanted to do some gaming. I bought the same mouse for my gf as I have, the Logitech mx518 gaming mouse. It works great with sensitivity adjustments on the fly. Also, it has two buttons on the left that are normally used for switching back and forward on webpages. On my comp at home I have the two binded as rearview and cockpit view for both land and air vehicles. I find it very handy, especially when flying and dogfighting. I also have the scroll wheel's clickable button as the shield for both air and ground vehicles.

Now for some reason bf2142 will not let me bind those keys as I have them on my pc at home. The only difference between comps is that mine at home is running XP and this one is running Vista. Does anyone have any idea why I am unable to bind these mouse buttons on the vista comp when I am able to on my comp at home running XP? And yes I have made sure the Logitech SetPoint is open and 2142 is set as a recognized game. Any help here would be much appreciated.

Is setpoint Vista capable? And does Vist recognise the mouse as a 5 button, not just a 3 button mouse?

i have the same mouse and vista. and it works fine. reinstall the mouse software.

i have the same problem with my g7 but i think ill try the reinstall of software to fix it

it is vista capable. How do I tell if vista recognizes it as a 5 button mouse? Go easy on me I just got vista yesterday.

press the buttons on something like internet explorer their default actions are usually like back forward etc, if setpoint recognises the mouse then windows will.

I only have an issue with custom bindings for the G7 the default behavior seems to override everything. Vista should essentially be the same as xp except for the fact you have to confirm all your changes 3 times.

i turned off setpoint and plugged my mouse into a different usb port. The computer treated it like a new device and installed the drivers, and now it works perfectly. so screw setpoint. thanks for all the help guys.
