PunkBuster Service Communication error. handshake...

Sorry if this has been already addressed, I could not find it.

I haven't played bf2142 for a long time, and It used to go smoothly even on vista. Now I am getting this dum punk buster error about "service communication failure" names an .exe and something about handshake.

I usually play on Vista and idk about the patch but right now most servers are letting me join them. Has there been a new patch out cause EA link is not showing me anything new.....

my firewall had it already marked as an exception....

Mine had A as an exception....I went in and manual put in B also....made no differance.....still getting kicked. Any ideas?

Then as ignomious as Punkbuster is in causing problems, perhaps it should have it's own area for posting. Then we could all gather in one spot.

If anyone with a Punkbuster problem are like me, they are frustrated and asking for help. Not that we have posted in more than one thread on the same problem.

I installed my BF 2142 in the manner;

1) BF 2142
2) Northern Strike
3) Patch 1.20
Then I found out about Patch 1.25
4) Patch 1.25

I did not install patch 1.10

I then discovered the Punkbuster problem

I read the forum about the Firewall and Punk a and Punk B. I checked and only Punk A was given full access. I went in and gave Punk B full access also.

I went to Punkbuster web site and ran their update program which updated both BF 2142 and BF 2 (for all I know BF 2 dosn't work now...but it did)

I went in game and found a server where I played for nearly 20 minutes before I chose to depart. Then I went to another server, with the specific idea of setting up my joystick for flight. I was on here for about one minute and I was kicked.

Frustrated I quite. I may go buy a game that isn't controled by punkbuster.

Note: this is a reinstall on a new computer. when I first bought this game when it first came out, I installed it and played it with NO problems. Why I'm haveing this problem I do not know.

Are you 100% sure it was in that order? 2142 requires the game to be patched to AT LEAST 1.20 before NS can be installed. You cant intall NS from a fresh install without patching.

The correct way ATM to install is:

2142
1.25 patch
NS
1.25 patch

Well it seems to have settled down. But if it continues, I'll reinstall as you mentioned. Thx.
