    NS Vehicle questions

Can someone please explain to me all the weapons of the Goliath? Does it run out of ammo on some positions? The mines it throws from the driver, how do they work and can they hurt yourself? Does the Goliath heal itself or is an engineer doing it? What are the weapons on the hachimoto and what are they effective to shoot at? Thanks. I just started to play NS and am unclear on the weapons and capabilities of these 2 vehicles. Thanks.

I can't actually answer your question about the running out of ammo, but I assume that they don't based on the APC model, but then again the walker needs to reload. All speculation, I haven't stayed in that thing long enough to find out. It's kinda a mobile coffin and draws a lot of attention, and the is never (damned rarely anyway) infantry support.
As far as the mines go; they're not MM in the sense that they are the same thing the Engi carries, but more of a proximity grenade for vehicles. I don't believe you can hurt yourself but I dunno if you can cause team damage.
The Goliath does repair itself, those little blue glowing panels on the side are the secret, take those out and it will stop repairing itself. it also heals and rearms infantry in close proximity (as if a Support and a Medic were riding inside), IDK if it repairs friendly vehicles like an engineer inside would though.
Hachi can lay some serious waste to infantry, the gunners nades and the drivers rockets are pretty BA, the gunners TV missile can take out walkers and the goliath (it's same as TV missile on the one on the gunship I think).

Sorry for leaving some grey areas, but I hoped it helped some. :salute:

The two rear guns are simple machine guns. I believe that has infinite ammo

The two front guns deal splash damage to their target. They can run out of ammo.

The primary gun for the driver can be described as a large shotgun to be used on infantry.

The mine thing should be thought of as a cannonball, being fired at your opponent. It doesn't act like a normal motion mine, I believe you have to hit your opponent with it directly.

a cannonball is a pretty good way to describe it

Goliat needs better stoping power vs. vehacles. If 2 walkers attack a goliath and no infantry support the goliath is dead in a sec.

I've taken down a Goliath by myself with a supply crate before, no one in there was engineer so I took down most of the panels and health with my walker rockets with help from a railgun.

So you should always have a support and engy in a Goliath to repel armor and resupply ammo.

The Goliath isn't intended to hold it's own against vehicles. Its infantry support. Goliath vs. a company of infantry = a company of dead infantry.

You want to make the Goliath a bruiser vs. tanks and walkers and gunships too? Too much. It's perfect just the way it is.... supports the friendly troops with health and ammo, acts as a spawn point, and kills enemy troops with gleeful abandon, all while still having it's own weaknesses so it's not a game-balance destroying item relegating all other ground vehicles to uselessness.

Umm, not sure what Goliath you guys are driving, but I rarely lose a one on two and never lose a one on one with a walker (s). Having gunners doesn't improve or detract from your survival (gunners can't inflict meaningful damage on armor). Taking out walkers is relatively easy. It's even easier if they are moving since the motion mines will track them for a short distance. Different hit locations will do huge amounts of damage with a single motion mine. The motion mine will damage on contact or if activated via motion.

I actually prefer to solo as I can switch between the driver to take out armor and front guns for infantry, Hachimotos (not even a contest) and FAVs.

To the NOOB GOLIATH GUNNERS --- Don't shoot the front guns at Walkers...the minimal damage you do only makes you overheat the guns or run out of ammo and allow the rail guns, engineers and snipers take out the Goliath. It's always fun engaging a walker and watching the minimap as red dots come in from the sides and behind while the front guns are going steady on a walker... Did I mention I prefer to solo?

It cannot be stressed enough, don't pop those front guns off at any vehicle other than a speeder... The ammo you're wasting tickling them is not made up for by the minimal damage you're dealing. Save it for infantry. And for Pete's sake, have a target when you fire... don't just pop them off because you feel aggressive... again, limited ammo... you never know when that last 5 shots you could have had (instead of putting them into the snow earlier because it fun to shoot the gun) would have stopped that engy from giving your Goliath a fatal dose of vitamin Pilum.

Also, assume you will pick up hitch hikers vs. gunners with the right kit (engineer or support). Drivers should always be support. Always throw a support IDS on the Goliath to see the enemies trying to sneak up. Throw a supply box to provide ammo to front gunners even though they are probably shooting at the walkers.

AND another thing...IF I PUT AN IDS ON THE GOLIATH, LOOK AT YOUR MINI MAP, FIND AND SHOOT THE RED FREAKING DOTS!!! 9 times out of ten, all 4 gunners are looking and shooting forward. I end up getting more kills with the shotgun by getting all of the one's the don't manage to see on the sides and back.
