I just finish today building my new rig.
DG965WH
E6300
GTS 8800 768mb
4 sticks of 1 gig ram
Windows XP 32bit
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum
Mag 22" monitor
I installed my Sound blaster then my 8800 then loaded BF2142 I opened it up went into the settings and turned all the settings to high. I have set the video resolution all the way up at 60hz. I played the game a little in single player mode to see what it was like with a good graphics card and it was fantastic never realized BF2142 could look this good. I now wanted to install my MX518 and Logitech joystick. I exited the game installed both items and entered back to the game so I could make some mouse and joystick configurations. When I started the game it had a real bad squealing through the speakers I exited the game noise went away. I started the game again and no squealing sound and I went and made my mouse and joystick configurations. I then at that point I unhooked the 19" monitor I was using temporary and the crappy speakers I was using and hooked up my Klipsch 2.1 speakers and my Mag 22" monitor. Then I tried to start BF2142 and it would show the tank for a second and CTD. I tried running it in Win2000 compatibility and it will start for about 5-10 seconds with a squealing sound coming through the speakers and then CTD. I tried some of the fixes on here I cleaned the registry ran diskeeper cleaned cache and still does the same thing. Is it possible that loading my MX518 did it if so how should I fix it delete everything then install mouse and joystick then game. This has been a real frustrating 2 weeks I had a bad MOBO had to ship it back. Then when I got new one had trouble getting it to take SATA drivers. I am going crazy worrying about this computer if anybody could please help I would really really appreciate it.
