False Positive with AVG free?

Anyone else getting a false positive on BF2142Pace.exe from AVG free after today's update? It says it's got Obfustat.AVZ which obviously isn't true.

Yes I have....not sure what the heck is going on, got an e-mail into EA support, but did a search here for BF2142Pace.exe and a ton of threads come up that I haven't gotten done sorting through....will link one here if I find it.

I have AVG Free and haven't gotten that error when searching the exact same file.

Was able to play last night by disabling the auto protect sheild.

I still had to uninstall and re-install because even though I told it to ignore the file, somehow it still moved or deleted something. All the 2142 icons changed to the default exe icons and it wouldn't run....

I'm going to try to contact AVG with the issue and let them know there is a false positive. I think since it's on their end EA isn't going to be any help on the issue.

*EDIT*: I'm at work and can't log onto their support forums without registering via the AVG free edition software, so if anyone else wants to open a topic on this, please feel free.

Iquere, did you use EA downloader to get the game or use a CD? I beleive it makes a difference in the default exe file.

i also hav avg, but dont have this problem. doesnt seem widespread.

I run AVG Free and the downloaded version of 2142. Just a few minutes ago, my avg updated, and then slapped bf2142Pace.exe into the Virus Vault with the above mentioned false detection, as well as the exe for my copy of RegSupremePro with another virus. I've had both of these programs for years, and have done nothing different.

Last night, before the AVG problems today, BF2142 refused to run stating "out of system resources. restart the computer" I did so and it has said the same everytime since. Previously I had been playing the game fine, ate dinner, came back and had that message ever since. and now dealing with AVG problems today on top of it.

Turn off the Resident Shield portion of AVG in order for the game to work fine, make sure to re-enable once done though.

I have the DVD version. Seems it happends only to people who downloaded the game.

Message from AVG about the EXE. Seems to affect only the downloaded version of the game.

Unfortunately, the previous virus database might have detected the virus on some legitimate applications. We can confirm that it was a false alarm. We will immediately release the new virus update that removes the false positive on this application. Please wait for the next update of AVG and check your files again.

If you need to restore deleted files from AVG Virus Vault you can do it this way: open AVG Virus Vault (Start -> Programs -> AVG Antivirus -> AVG Virus Vault). Locate the file that was removed, right click on it and choose "Restore File(s)" option.

Following this fixed mine. It restored the EXE and works again after todays update.

Yea the problem was fixed by the next day's update. No more warnings since.
