Anyone here made it past Brigadier?

I've been Brig since DEC and haven't even gotten to major general. I am a good player if i say so myself, I make a difference in the team i am playing for, whether it's supplying ammo or reviving to save tickets. I normally finish top 5 in 48 and 64 player servers almost 80% of the time. So i don't know WTF is needed to make it past brigadier. I guess i should start joining knife only servers

I've been brig for a few months. You got it in December with a nerfed poor accuracy voss? Wow.

Yeah there is some secret forumla they use for success. There is so many players that it is like winning the lottery or a raffle to get promoted.

It's simple to get, all you have to do is become one of them statpadders, hackers, etc. and BOOM There ya go! Thats how EA rewards them.

And NO I havent been past Brig yet.

Yep, The Voss was decent before it got put on steroids. I was a heavy Voss user in the beginning. I definetly felt the change when the patch came along, shortly before the patch came out, i was starting to get into the Baur. So i knew how both guns felt. It was Perfect how they were. The giant Voss clip was justifiable because you needed to 1/3 of a clip to take a guy down. All you need now is 4 single shots to take down a guy with full health.

Anywhoo.... I should just accept the fact that the real good players on this game will never have those top ranks because there will always be cheaters around

            Ask Someone At Ea/dice.......

I know what you mean but it appears to me that EA rewards the bad and penalizes the good. Just look at all the cheaters who have ranked up. SC is a friggin joke and how many times has EA had to reset the same player for cheating. My advice is just keep playing and if you rank up to MG or higher then you were one of the lucky few. Can't see any thing changing.......

using the voss in the early days felt better, i feel pretty lame using it nowadays i think more ranks should be added seeing as its so easy to reach the top ranks

I think having a higher rank should give you more access to things and more benefits and advantages.

The only thing it does now is give your soldier access to more unlocks, and gives you a higher priority to be commander.

When you have all the unlocks it doesn't really matter.

The ranks should be displayed on the uniforms in game.

They should be next to your name too in the chat.

I thought rankup past brig gen was determined by how well rounded you were? Ie, you can't rankup with simply 999999999999 points in voss kills, etc?

I dunno the #1 Clark user got promoted. And he's not good at anything else except shooting people with the Clark. I got his tags though - Bunnyhop knifed him while he was trying to clark me.

Back in the days when I played MMOs, what I really enjoyed about ones like Star Wars Galaxies was an old concept for staggering the rare and powerful Jedi players that used a maintenance-based ranking system to offer obscenely powerful abilities and skills to the top players in the game, with diminishing returns down the scale. The top Dark Jedi in the game could literally decimate over twenty conventional players with raw offensive power. Conversely the top Light Jedi in the game could shield his allies in battle, heal himself faster than damage could be applied to him, and just generally pretty much never die. However, attached to this new power was a very, very high maintenance cost - I believe mathematically the top player in the game had to play around 70 productive hours per week in order to hold his position, or be demoted the following week in favor of someone who had put in that kind of effort. This way, lots of people got their time in the sun, and when you were up there, it was a glorious time indeed. I realize there is something vaguely similar to this in 2142 now, but what needs to be implemented is:

                      1) An intelligent system for selecting the top players. The present algorithms reward stat padders, plain and simple. It does not take more than one person at DICE / EA to run through player records of the previous week at a specified time and calculate the week's best legitimate players.

                      2) With more prestige, more power and more responsibility in battle. Give the top officer ranks more stamina in battle, or a bonus to their health, accuracy or ammunition supplies.

This way the top officer ranks are more than just a point of boasting - they are a legitimate tactical advantage.

I'm an old-school SWG Bounty Hunter / Teras Kasi myself. Played on the Bria Server and was popular with my other buddy in hunting Jedi. We were a 2 man team - we killed Dark Jedi before. I did the KD Dizzy Spam, and he did headhits with his legendary powerhammer =)

I know the Jedi ranking system well, and it was horrible.

Agreed that the ranking system needs to give you benefits. Maybe access to rare passive unlocks or weapons / items?

Damn I miss the days - I knocked off around the time they made Jedi a starting prof.:laugh::laugh: Three words: Mind Fire T-21. Former BH / Rifleman here, among the first on Scylla with a full mando set and among the most feared gunner BHs on the server for a verrrry long while for my tenacity and intelligence. Relatively famous for once tricking the top Light Jedi (memory escapes me on the rank's name...I recall Consular, Sentinel and Guardian being three ranks, but was the top one Arbiter?) into helping me kill an Ancient Krayt (back when they were tough). Toward the end of the fight his tanking abilities wore down, so I took the opportunity to shoot him in the back of the head and finish the dragon. Netted 1,418,000 Credits and a flawless pearl. I have an archive of hate /tells nearly fourteen pages long in word, many of which contain threats on my life outside of the game. This was back when a death to a Hunter set a Jedi back days of work. Knowing that a 10 year old eBay kiddie was at his computer physically in tears because of some hard work and dedication on my part to capitalize on his mistake excited me in ways I still do not fully understand to this day.

Good times...hit me up in a PM sometime and we'll swap hunting stories.

I think they need to enhance the abilities already in the game, rather than add new weapons or items that will simply cause a scramble for the top ranks. While this scramble might be good in theory, if you make the rewards too far out there then the likely end result would be new and innovative means of statpadding being discovered to circumvent a more intelligent officer selection process. An Officer would have a sizeable advantage on the battlefield with, say, 75 extra health points, or two additional clips for his weapon, the ability to command two squad leader unlocks, or twice the normal amount of stamina. It would be a real gamebreaker and would make it a true advantage to have one on your team.

I am a FIELD MARSHALL SILVER at the moment. Due to me having a job and working shifts I can't really play that much right now. My shifts will change next month so I will see how fast I actually gonna make it to BRIGADIER GENERAL. Still curious about the other GENERAL RANKS, since there is no points/career requirement listed.
