new punkbuster error?

any help wud be usefull since i cant join any server at all.

My guild mates have been getting it lots, i've had the usual PnkBstrB error :/

This issue has occurred with me as well. At times it seems it has gone but seems to be happening more often than not lately. The last few days it has been constant to the point where i hadn't played for four days.

I've tried all the suggestions such as removing pb and updating, tweaking the registry, re-installing the game and even rolling back my system. Nothing has worked for good.

My setup has windows firewall turned off, and i run Zonelabs Security Suite. Before i play 2142, i turn Zonelabs SS off and make sure it's unloaded before launching the game. So i figured, well it's worked since 2142 beta why would it suddenly cause problems now? Then i though, well Punkbuster continually updates so maybe it's a PB issue?

Soooo... after launching the game in my normal manner and getting the PB error, i decided i'd experiment (some more) and turn ON Zonelabs SS and set it to "GAME MODE". Launched 2142 and what do you know, i played the game for a few hours without issue.

The initial conclusion for now after one test is that Zonelabs SS leaves some trace resource hanging around after unloading and this causes the "service communication error". It makes sense somewhat as ppl have noted the Firewall have caused issue with PB. Unfortunately, i can't seem to tell what exactly is left behind by Zonelabs SS.

Again this is just one test, but i will try it again later on, look into the details further and report back. Anyone else running Zonelabs SS?

There are more people reporting this problem for 2142 on the EA forums, but i though i would share my info here just in case this pops up for you and others.

Ditto on my Punkbuster problem....I use Mcaffee and it had already made an exception for puk A but I manual put in punk B and it STILL kicks me out. Doesn anyone have an idea how we beat this thing?

And just for the record, I'm ok with cheat prevetion, if it works. But this is silly.
