I suck at knifing and I've never been on a KnP... but I do think it would be a nice change of pace to go dogtag trading now and then among other knifers... or go a few rounds with just pistols vs. pistols. I can do that now if I want by going on unranked KnP... but then the dogtags would not be recorded.
The awards and global stats system have some good features but then there are features that just screams for abuse such as the collector's pin. Personally, if this pin (and the collector's badge) did not exist I think many more players would be having a blast on these servers without a bad feeling in sight.
No doubt it takes skills to being a good (and no hacks) knifer just like it takes skills to be a good sniper, etc... Because of the flaw in the awards system anyone who frequents KnP is automatically treated with so much disdain. Had the awards system been proper we would have had the chance to evaluate a player objectively and possibly praise him/her for such knife skills.
I don't know CartoonPorn so I don't have anything for or against him but I believe all the decay ranks should not be given to any players that knowingly and frequently breaks the ROE. That's just an insult from EA/DICE to all other players who have played by-the-rules.
As for stats resetting for being on a KnP I'm not a big fan of this either... I would much rather EA implement a filter that allows me to see my true ranks based on some exclusion criteria such as "exclude any players that have been on a KnP server", "exclude so and so...", etc... In the end I don't think many people really care how good a knifer CartoonPorn is or how many KnP servers he's been on... BUT when EA/DICE comes out and declare a known ROE breaker (CartoonPorn amongst others) as the 'most worthy player for the week'... now that's just insulting the rest of the players community for playing by THEIR ROE.
