what can i do to improve my video?

in this thread, people accused me of illegal gameplay.

because of this, i felt compelled to submit a video of my gameplay.

is there anything i can do to improve my game?

First problem is Youtube. You would be better using Putfile, Veoh, MetaCafe, or daily motion. Stage6 is by far the best, but you have to convert your movie to Divx first before uploading.

Do you have a download link from where I can get the original? If not, try one of the others above, they are all much better than Youtube. I think Veoh would be my pick.

ok, here's the link to the avi which im told only opens in FRAPS. however, i can play it with real video player very nicely.

important: when you've downloaded that *rename* the .zip file to .avi

it is not actually an zip archive, it just has that extension. sorry for the confusion.

if you can lay the steps down to make it a divx, i'd appreciate that, thanks!

Here it is. I rendered it to a wmv file first using a 3000 bitrate. I then converted it to DivX using Dr. Divx 2.0 (Download link and tutorial).

Now you would be able to upload it to Stage6 if you wanted.

ok, im gonna try dr divx again. it kept crashing on me with the full video, but i'm going to try it again with the setting you mention.

i've heard there is a more complex way of arriving at the same output of dr. divx.

i registered at stage6, so that's where i'll probly put the full video.

Here is a brief tutorial I just made using your movie on using the advance tab feature in Dr. Divx. The most important thing I have learned in converting movies without generating errors is to ensure that the output file resolution is not larger than the original input file. So if you movie is 640x480 make sure the output is not larger than that resolution.

ok, dumb question time. how do i do the part underlined? windows movie maker? and how do i set it for 3000 bps?

basically, show me how to get from the fraps avi file to the wmv file.

It's safe to assume you don't have Sony Vegas. I will make a video tut a bit later on using movie maker and post it here. I just don't have time at the moment. Check back in a few hours and I should have it done. Just easier to explain using a video than going back and forth in the forums.

I'm going to get started on the Tut, here is a decent Movie Maker Tut I found on Youtube. It is a great start on how to use Movie Maker.

If anybody knows how to get better quality using Movie Maker please let us know.

I found the the quality just isn't that good with Movie Maker, so I tried it with Virtualdub 1.6.19 and got better results. I followed this immediately with Dr.Divx to convert for Stage6 upload. This will work for single files. Again, if anybody know how to get better quality with Virtualdub, please share.
