If you know their name, go to 2142-stats.com and look them up, provided they haven't hid their online status then it'll say if they're on a server, although you might have to update their stats by adding them to a queue if they're not playing often.

I searched for a few DICE guys and the majority stopped playing in july according to 2142-stats.com
