  • 9 FPS whats wrong?

    Hi everyone,

I'm very new in this forum and i see people talkin about CS for different issues. I really played both CS 1.5 and 1.6 for a long time. i quit for a period of time because i have not enought time to play.

Well i just installed a fresh copy of XP on my computer because i had Vista on it and i installed Steam and Counter Strike 1.6.
But the problem is that FPS can't go more than 9 and it sucks playing like this.

i've installed the newest drivers of my GeForce 6600 512MB RAM DDR2
    i have a Processor of Intel Pentium D 3.4 GHz 1024FSB and 2 Gig RAM Memory of 667Mhz, i have a motherboard P5B Deluxe.

Earlier when i played counter strike on the same computer my FPS was always going 100-101, now i really don't know what i did wrong.

Anyone knows what might the problem be??? i know 100% that its not lack of a good hardware but this problem might be software based. so anyone know to help me about this problem i would appriciate it.

    Thank you.

    Hard to say.
What is max_fps (or fps_max) set to?
Are you running in d3d or opengl?

Try running in Direct3D, just to see if there's a difference.

how do i change the fps_max and does it matter if i set it to 500?
cos my GTX 280 easily plays css at 300fps on my 1920x1200 res

            fps_max "insert value here"
Do that in the console or config.cfg file.
There's no point in setting it above your screen refresh rate.
