  • Text Files For Maps

    Hello,

I am trying to edit the text files that appear at the start of each map. I am not talking about the MOTD. I am talking about the message on the right hand side of the screen when you are picking what team to join.

Does anyone know how to edit these files? I have tried doing a de_dust2.txt in the cstrike/maps folder, but that doesn't seem to work anymore...

Any assistance here would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Right hand side?
The white letters too choose teams and buy weapons? That's on the left side. There's a file in the cs gcf file that has this. If you extract it to the correct directory, then you can edit it.
Sorry, can't remember which file it is. To open up the gcf file search for gcfscape.

No, I am talking about the map description box. Where it says who created the map, whether it's a de_ or a cs_ type..

Oohh, well yes, that is present in a txt file probably named de_dust2.txt.
It wouldn't surprise me that you can't find it. Once again, get gcfscape and search for it.

I can't seem to find ANY of these files...

On another note, do you know where I can download a working de_vegas.wad file?

I joined a server on de_vegas and I somehow still don't have one...

          Thanks,

Search for it on google, you'll find it. Or go to fpsbanana.com and search there. I don't understand why valve decided to remove de_vegas from the regular maps. I think it was from 1.5 to 1.6. And it was a fun map. Even though terribly imbalanced :P
As for those txt files, I'll search for them sunday or monday when I'm back on my computer where I have cs installed. I'll let you know later.

                :O
Sorry, completely forgot about you! :P
I'll check on it right now.

                EDIT:
OK, so navegating to cstrike/maps within the counter-strike.gcf file you'll find txt files with the map info. Like de_dust2.txt:

Other Notes: There are 2 chemical

Hope that's what you're looking for.

Oh you want to change them.
Extract those files to your cstrike/maps folder. Example:
                    c:\program files\steam\steamapps\youraccount\counter-strike\cstrike\maps
And then edit them there. It should work.
