  • Have a hand in developing advanced CS artificial intelligence!

The University of Alberta is doing research into improving AI for first-person shooter video games. In particular, one of their research groups has designed a program that predicts the locations of opponents in Counter-Strike: Source games. In order to determine whether or not it is comparable to the ability of humans at the same task, they are running an online user study. Participants of the study are asked to annotate games with their best guesses as to where opponents are at particular points during the game. Afterwards, they can view an analysis of their performance to see how well they did against the computer program as well as all other participants of the study.

You can find out more information and create an account at the user study website:

The more people they get annotating games the better their AI can become. Oh, and one important note: you must be running Windows XP or Vista in order to use a client that you will be required to download.

    Okay, I just can't resist:

They are developing Artificial Intelligence in Alberta?

I thought they had already perfected it there!
