Establishing network problem

well i jus got cs 1.6
i have windows vista home basic
and whenever i join a game, it loads 3 bars and says "Establishing network connection to server..." and freezes there
i searched almost EVERYWHERE but i couldnt find the answer
i also did all the stuff i know and what ppl told me but still doesnt work
for some reason i only does that to old versions of games like cs 1.6, dod while css and dods works just fine

plz answer my question!!!

It sounds like Windows firewall (or your third party firewall software) is blocking the hl.exe process from accessing the internet. You need to find the Blocked programs list and authorise it in the software (in Control Panel fo Windows Firewall, or in the program settings for other software).
