While playing the game I've found that my mouse and keyboard aren't responding properly, sometimes almost lagging. Such as moving forward, then letting go of the forward key, and I keep moving forward another moment. Same thing with the mouse, only sometimes it stops turning instead of continuing on. I've updated my drivers, and I'm really not sure what the problem could be. Thanks to whoever lends some words.
Mouse and Keyboard issues

I used to have mouse issues. Kinda like it lagged out for a second or two.
I initially blamed it on a steam update... only to find out sometime after that my RAM module wasn't properly stuck in (no more hitting my pc). It turns out it had nothing to do with my mouse nor steam.
So, first of all, are you having fps drops while playing?
Does this happen in any other game? -
Well, yeah, I've been there. It sucks. And the worst: nobody can ever come up with a decent fix for this.
Do you have the possibility of using other hardware? Like a ps/2 mouse and keyboard?
Is it possible you're having any kind of overheating problems, or maybe too much dust?Comment

So, if you don't touch your keyboard your mouse won't mess up?
Are your keyboard and mouse no the same usb hub? Generally, pcs have hubs to connect various devices; this leads to the division of the usb speed through those devices. On some mice that can be an issue.Comment

I had tried a different mouse before as well, no change. I messed with my video settings a little though, and changing the renderer made the problem much worse. I'm using OpenGl as the moment, and that's the one I have the best performance on. Thinking that it's a video issue now I updated my video driver again, and for some reason, that made it even worse. I did a system restore to get it back to normal, to it's normal badness. I use a Radeon9800 video card. I feel it's something with the video now, but I have no idea how to fix the problem.Comment

I don't know.
But I'm not into video cards, so I don't really know what you can do.
And besides, it's only happening in hl1 games... which aren't really "heavy" compared to source games. So, it makes no sense to be a video card issue.
Keep trying different drivers.Comment
