Hell, I put a stop to that myself. After someone tried to make a "BF2 v 2142" thread I just said that battlefield will never die, no matter how many "Frontlines fuel of fail"'s claim to kill it.

I really think its because of the mechanics of the game. Air isnt the overpowered thing it was and you cant blow up a tank easily, yet people can survive tank shells.

Its so easy to say how BF3 isnt a true sequal. Its reminds me of those arguments Ive had with others about politics and in the end being called a "bleeding heart libral" or a "NRA carying diehard republican" ON THE SAME TOPIC!

But anyway, it is just a game, but I stand firm on there is no more or less teamwork than when I played BF2.
There is considerably less teamwork in BF3, compared to BF2. Thanks in no minor part to the way the squads work, no easy-to-use-on-the-fly VOIP, which means you have no potential of voice comms with strangers on the server and must rely on your buddies on TS. The objectives lack, you need to type in your intentions and planning and most people dont even read the chatscreen. And considering you can spawn anywhere, anytime, there is absolutely no use in sticking or spawning with the squad as soon as you become average-to-good at the game. Unless I play with my friends, I squad and spawnhop and play solo, using my teammates as cannon fodder and distraction.

In essence, the teamwork you find in BF3 is isolated to a few cases of armor support, a guy sitting in the AA at the airfield, and a few guys throwing medpacks. The basis for teamwork amongst strangers in the server is once again- lacking. Unsurprisingly. And this will dwindle down numbers as soloriders will get their worth out of their game and then ditch it, because there really is no potential of longetivity if you cant tie it with the community.

If you "stand firm" on claiming there is no more nor less teamwork than with BF2, then you either played it briefly, or played on some statpadders server. Even if you were to log into a random server, you could find at least 3 squads on both sides, which had a functioning 4+ man squad. That was more than enough.

There is no teamwork in BF3. The choices you make in the game do not benefit the squad or the team, they benefit you.

Team work barely existed in BF2. Maybe "squad work" but very rarely did the majority of the team follow the orders of a good commander. Half the time those squads that worked together, worked together to take pointless back flags which would in the end cause that team to lose.

Teamwork in BF2 usually ended up being retarded. BF2=BLOB, Which ever team simply sticks together wins.

There is as much as there was in BF2 prior to me joining a clan. If you had all this teamwork than you either played with a specific clan(s), joined specific servers with teamwork being the goal (Forced you to join a squad, created squads with teamwork names, clan/tournament servers, etc...), or played with friends with the same mindset and/or mod.

Once I joined a clan, things changed and the game became more fun. I realized that in order to get the most out of BF2 that was what I had to do. It is unfortunate BF3 doesnt have in-game voip, but I dont think it would be used much more than in BC2 or BF2.

Why does liking a game constitute "Puppetry" by a big corporation? Why must others put others down just because they disagree? What ever happened to acknowledging others opinions as opinions, and regarding yours as the same, and not fact?

                Oh right, its the internet.

                  Well said Stevo,

                  Dear Mr. Qbec,

If pointing out the fact that I found no more teamwork in BF2 as I have in BF3 hurts my rep, then so be it. I rather have a hurt reputation for stating that than parading around touting what I dont believe.

Besides, what "rep" do I have? You think I have some great followers going "Oh Crunch, why say such things that are so untrue?"

I play games. BF3 is a game. It has a ton of issues as did BF2. However, I still stand by my saying that I have seen no more or less teamwork in BF3 than I have in BF2, or vice versa. Yeah, it can be harder to play without in game voip. I agree. Not having those tools do make it tougher. I agree. That doesnt change the fact that even with all these "great and wonderful" tools were in BF2, it didnt change any gameplay for me until I joined a clan and used their teamspeak to communicate with people wanting the same goal.

Same applies with BF3. A few people want some teamwork and I do what I can, but I have the most fun and teamwork when people join me in Battlelog and we communicate. The same thing/level as BF2.

So, dont you worry about my "rep". I dont even know you and I dont recall you ever helping me out in BF2 to make my statement false; and I will continue to state what Ive experienced in my time in 1942, Vietnam, BF2, BC2, and BF3.

                  Thank you and good day.

While I wouldn't consider Hotel in Oman to be a pointless back flag, you're right, squadwork would be a more appropriate term. You can't really fight a stacked team with just one flag, and coordinating the whole team from the commanders perspective was happening a LOT in the Demo during the first month. It died down as soon as people started massing in, and the commanders position was being constantly taken by people who had no interest, skill or experience in utilizing it.

But, during the days in the Demo, before Retail hit, three thirds of all quads followed orders constantly, and almost all of them did it when the commander started using VOIP.

Its OK Qbec, there are things that disapoint me as well in the game. The main thing that bugs me most about the design of this game are the maps. I like a lot of them, but there are more that are BC2 designed than BF designed. Everyone points out Caspian as a true battlefield map, but I think it was Anarchy who pointed it out best how close the flags are to each other even though the map is huge. The BF size map idea is there, but its a tight map because of flag placement. Dont even get me started on how many maps we have where the flags are in almost a straight line. I feel DICE did that because of CoD. They want people to have instant action all the time and more shooting and less running around.

I was on the beta team and the alpha team and I reported huge lists of bugs and suggestions. I have to admit though that I never mentioned maps because there were only two and DICE said that Caspian wasnt the largest map, but average, which wasnt true. Well, it was true, but not in the sense of flag placement. All bugs that I reported have been fixed (Not counting the new ones added on release and patches), but almost no suggestions that I reported were done. I did all that I could do, within my means, to change some things.

Then there is the problem that I like the game. Im not sorry for that. I do. Its fun and I like the atmosphere and how things were overall designed. The nerfing is getting old with the constant, on the whim, changes. At least in BF2 you didnt get nerfs until a patch was released, now they can do it on the fly.

So anyway thats all I got.

I hope you have a good upcoming year as well.
