I have to say the fire in the game looks great! Check these photos out:

There was a tank there, but as I was loading up fraps and about to take the pic, I got shottied:

Yeah it's great. I can tell because my FPS drops to 20 when I go near fire :P

Yes, things go "boom" very nicely in this game.
And the sound effects are good too, at least if you are using "War Tapes"
