Why does install take so long even from disk?

Bought Disk based PC version from Gamestop. Why is it "downloading" 11gigs? Seems very strange.

its prob downloading the whole game like steam does unless you actually look into the cd for the setup fie.

It's not actually downloading if you're installing from the disk. Disk installation took me ~15 minutes. When I did a re-install to fix leftover beta files, it tried to download it instead, saying that would take an hour. Popped the disk in, back down to 15 minutes. They just didn't make another icon for disk reading in Origin.

I read online that its faster if you copy the CD contents to your drive (a temp folder), then install from there. Should have done that first, but i'm at 90% installed now.

Yeah, it just says it's downloading, but it's really just installing from the disc. Took me like 15mins as well to completely install it. But then came the patch, (Which you actually download) that took a bit longer.

That's not that bad. MW2 took me about 45 minutes to install from the disk.
