Has anyone checkout out the official COD website? It's really depressing reading the comments to this video. The comments contain numerous spelling and grammar errors. Apparently the only people anticipating this game is a bunch of children. The game play looks terrible and outdated. I can't believe someone would blow $60 on this crap.

Though there is a lot of hate on MW3, IW/Sledgehammer did change a lot of things in the game to make a bit more different. The more annoying perks are gone, the killstreak system is different, a whole different co-op system as well as a restructured perk system. Yeah, its the same style of gameplay, but isn't that was makes a series? I am never surprised when a pick up a sequal to a game as far as mechanics and gameplay goes.

Is it that CoD is oversaturated?

I wouldnt go that far. If people dont like a game, thats fine, but it seems to be a trend just to hate CoD. I understand hating them for lack of dedicated servers or for their unbalanced perks/killstreaks and even for their "outdated" engine, but to hate them for being CoD is like hating a color for being a color.

I would expect MW3 to feel and act like MW2. I have to say though I tried Blops this weekend and it felt more like CoD4, which I was surprised as even though Treyarch makes CoD games, they had a different feel or style to them. They dont seem to have that anymore. The maps were still Treyarch though, with cover and debris everywhere. I always liked their maps better.

Re: Article: Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Video Reveal

I don't hate CoD at all. I have every single CoD game to date, except those released on the handhelds. CoD used to be my favorite series of all time. But now, it is just stale.

Personally, I don't consider new perks, a new point streak system, and a new co-op mode to be innovative enough changes to warrant me paying another $60.

And sure, the gameplay is going to stay relatively the same through a series, but there needs to be some change or innovation to make me want to buy it. RO2 feels kind of like RO1, but it has tons of new features, better graphics, new engine, and slightly more arcadey feel to it, new gamemodes, etc. AC:B felt like ACII, but it had a brand new storyline that they probably spent months on just writing, more characters, more missions, more weapons, oh, and multiplayer.

I put up with the lack of innovation from CoD4 to MW2 (and the lack of dedicated servers) because I enjoyed CoD4 immensely and thought MW2 would follow in its footsteps. Basically, it did, but it was a worse game. I bought Black Ops because it looked to be quite different than the MW games. It seemed to have a different feel, like WaW had a different feel (I agree with you Crunch, BO felt CoD4-like). And it did, and I actually really enjoyed that game. But in the end, it was still the same old CoD gameplay that started with CoD4, and I stopped playing it after a few months and haven't touched it since. And now MW3 is coming out, and it looks to be the same as MW2. Maybe if they had improved on Black Ops, I would have bought it for a few months of fun (fanboyism never really goes away). I could barely stand MW2, so there is no way that I will buy MW3 unless it is significantly different, but from all these trailers I have seen, it looks exactly the same, with cheap, gimmicky crap to draw in the kids, and just a feeling of overall blandness.

Since this has basically turned in to a rant, let me just say what I originally meant to say but started going off talking about other things. When you have multiple games on almost yearly releases that are very similar (CoD4, MW2, BO, MW3), eventually, they have to do something innovative to keep the gameplay fresh. WaW was a perfect game after CoD4 IMO because it felt completely different yet had all the normal aspects of CoD. Unfortunately, that game never got too popular. But then MW2 went right back to CoD4 and dumbed down the gameplay a bit more (my opinion). BO changed the setting, added new perks, new weapons, new killstreaks (like MW3 will) and had a slightly different feel, but it still had the inherent CoD feel that I don't think WaW really had. I was really hoping BO would turn out like WaW, but it didn't. And now they are coming out with yet another game, the third one in three years, with the exact same gameplay, that they will again milk every penny out of, and it's just too much for me and many others. I guess it is a factor of oversaturation, but it is also a problem with a lack of innovation.

I always hate it when people hate on something without any reason other than "It sucks." Thats a poor excuse. Im a gamer and there have been many games that I thought I would hate and loved and vice versa. I HATED BF1942 when I first tried it. I mean, I thought it was the most stupid game. After it was out about a month and forums kept talking about how great it was, I felt that I wasnt really trying the game properly and so I had to re-adjust my thoughts and try it again. I HATE CS:S, thats just me. I tried it many times and I didnt see what was so great about it. Millions disagree with my statement and thats OK.

I am neutral with MW2 because I would like to play the single player and see what happens next. Unfortunatly, for Activision, I am not spending $60 to see what happens. As for the multiplayer, I dont mind the perks and the gadgets. Its things like those options that can make the game different a number of times. I like the fast paced action CoD gives, from the run-n-gunners to the campers, I enjoy them all and I play that way and others. The problem is, and I saw this with Blops this weekend, is that its the same game over and over. When I was playing Blops, it felt like an updated CoD4 game. MW2 felt like an updated CoD4 game. Looking at this video, it looks like an updated CoD4 game.

I feel oversaturated with CoD. Ive owned all the CoDs but blops and I dont really plan on owning this one either. When the price is $15 or so, then I may. It also bothers me that there is very limited news on the game and no forums. The only talk is "official by the numbers" talk and not much else. They dont even have MW3 forums up. Why the blackout? It also looks like Sledgehammer is running the show and not IW, going by what few tweets and interviews there are. So maybe this game wont feel like COD at all because of that. Youd think this game was releasing in Jan/Feb of 2012 and not November of 2011.

Part of the other problem is how IW treated the PC side of things back in MW2 and how they are doing the same for PC. So there are dedicated servers now, so what? They are just going to scrap IWnet after all the talk about how theyve improved it? What about ranked/unranked servers? Where is the PC beta for Elite? How is it going to integrate? Is it going to integrate? How come no demo/beta at all? Is there any hardened editions for PC? I dont play on consoles, so why would I be hyped on a console driven game? Even the CoD:XP event you got MW3....for Xbox. The event to say "Thank you" to all their fans was actually an event to say "Thank you xbox owners" for their loyalty and dedication.

Sooooo, oversaturation, news limitations, and almost no information on the PC side of things pretty much tells me to pass. I bet it will be fun though and I really think many will enjoy it and people shouldnt decide not to get it because others say "it sucks." Even the stuff I mentioned is only meant for me.
