With 3D spotting OUT and the Comma Rose back in, all is right with the world again.

infantry can also be 3D spotted but must remain within your line of sight

It may mean something to you, but It doesnt to me. I do not know what it is exactly, just that there is a load of debate over it.

Read the new facts/faqs. Its a hybrid system for quick things as well as actual commands.

Think of the commo rose in BF2 using the Q key to spot or if nothing is there, then you select an option.

Still vastly better than was in BC 2 and the BF 3 Alpha. Although I do think 3D spotting Infantry should be 100% gone.

it is yes, I think the infantry thing makes sense though since it only highlights someone if you are more or less actively engaged with them
