    The Heads-Up-Display

I'd like to discuss the HUD in Battlefield 3. Are you all satisfied with the placement of the map, or the color and font things are displayed in?

I don't like the Mini-Map very much. I think it should be be more of a satellite type photo than a map.

However, I do enjoy a lot of things. I really like the blue letters that show "Enemy Down" messages, and the way it blinks at the end like a computer's typing is really neat. I also like the placement of the map at the bottom left corner, instead of the usual upper left.

Something I'd like to see added is a little ammo/med kit with an arrow in front of it pointing toward whoever requested help with the Q button. So if somebody says, "I need a medic!" and you're not looking at them, the little arrow appears with an ammo box. It would have to be very small though, or it would become annoying.

They just need to move the actual chatbox from where it was in the alpha to the bottom right corner or something cos it's hard to read.

The new HUD works very well.

Oh yes, I completely forgot about the chat box! I disliked it's placement since the BC2 update put it up there. I think in the middle of the screen between the map and the ammo counter is the best location for the text, and only show 4 lines at a time. The rewards like "Enemy down" could appear slightly above it as they currently do.

I love the new HUD. It is much more "modern" I would say. Plus it blends in to the actual level a lot more, so it isn't obtrusive.

They could add a few things to it though. I like your idea of an ammo/health pointer. I would also like to see some sort of an order marker that the squad leader can place. The order marker for BC2 was pathetic...it didn't look any different from the regular M-COM/Capture point marker unless you looked closely.

That chat box was almost certainly temporary. They don't need a chat box when testing, so they probably stuck it in at the last minute (at least they put one in). Hopefully the don't put it somewhere stupid though like BC2.

I like Left 4 Dead 2's chat system a lot.

I agree with you regarding the commanding parts of the HUB. I would like to be able to set waypoints for my squad to follow. I would also like more distinct color difference between the green and blue player names. In Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 I had no trouble seeing who was in my squad and who wasn't, but in BC2 I had a lot of trouble. I'm not color blind, but the green name tags and blue were too close in hue and the green blended into the environments a lot.

Shift, you might check your monitor settings on those colors because I see them very bright and different from each other.

I dont want to break the NDA so i wont say that i had a problem with the HUD were it would not fit the resolution i would set in the game, for example if i changed it to a low one the hud would allways sick with the 1020x780 (too lazy to check if thats the correct one but you get the idea), so it would go out of bounds and stuff like the minimap and the info on the bullets i had would fit almost the whole screen xD. Also to be able to select other kits i wouldhave to use the arrow keys since i was not able to go there with the mouse.
