Are you as excited for BF3 as you were before BF2 was released?

I dont understand why people dont join in the conversations. Yeah, you may get flamed a little, but so what? Look at Rambo, he is wrong every time he posts, but he still works hard at it

I actually didn't get BF2 until after Special Forces was released and bought them both together. So to answer the question I'm looking more forward to BF3.

Bf2 was my first BF game too, so I don't recall being that exited before I got my hands on it.
BF2142 was a different story, I was very exited about that, not the least because of all the new content that you didn't see in games taking place in the present day.
I am not nearly as exited for BF3. I am certainly looking forward to it, but it will largely be a variation of something I have already played in a lot of different games. Basically the same guns, the same vehicles, the same equipment etc.
Now a new BF2143, that would be interesting!

Re: Are you as excited for BF3 as you were before BF2 was released?
Hmm.. I didn't know anything about BF2 before its release.. I just saw on the internet one day a game advertising Land, Sea & Air and went out and bought it. Then I bumped into this site
I am however looking forward to BF3 if what EA says is true about the game lasting for "years", at least it beats BC2 which didn't last so long for me. Not to mention the lack of Admin tools made it a pain in the ass. The Scon admin tool that my Clan use's for Black Ops is seeing if its going to be viable for BF3 which will be good if it works.
The downer I see is that I thought I saw EA/Dice mention that the Back to Karkand map pack would be released a few weeks after BF3 with a $14.99 price tag.. that makes me worried for whatever additional maps they decide to revamp.. is it going to be like Black Ops where you're charged $14.99 / £9.99 for 4 Maps?
Re: Are you as excited for BF3 as you were before BF2 was released?
A mate introduced me to Battlefield 2 and I remember being very underwhelmed by it at 1st look. I was playing using his copy so we could only play against each other over LAN. I started to get into the game, I can remember not being able keep a copter in the air for longer than 20 seconds in those early days
He always wanted to play Wake Island so he could rape in the jet. I hated that map. I was very excited about 2142 when it was announced. I liked the future setting, at last a game that is not yet another modern middle-east theatre scenario. We both got a copy day 1 and I could finally get online and play against other gamers. I haven't played any game as much as I played 2142, still the best FPS yet IMO.
I was excited about BF3 when I 1st heard. The setting doesn't appeal too much - seen it a million times. The noises DICE were making about it being a PC focused game & a true Battlefield experience also sounded great. Frostbite 2.0, destruction, DX11 etc - all good. Just words though, I think the game is still gonna be compromised by being cross-platform.
Footage of the alpha doesn't fill me with confidence though. Looking more like BFBC than BF. I'm not gonna pre-order, I'm gonna wait to hear what people say when it's released.

I agree somewhat. It will be a variation of what we have been playing for years, but it is still very innovative. It's not like Call of Duty that has the same weapons every year and the gameplay still is very similar. When was the last time you played a game with destruction and large scale maps with jets, helicopters, and tanks? The second part of that question does sound like BF2, but you played the alpha and I'm sure you agree that it doesn't feel like BF2.
But yes, we are playing the same type of maps, with the same guns and vehicles. I think the modern era is getting stale now. I remember when CoD4 was announced, they were talking about how there were very few great modern shooters out and that the WWII genre was getting scale. Well, now pretty much all the WWII series (except Red Orchestra) have moved on to the modern era, and maybe the modern era is getting overdone.
Re: Are you as excited for BF3 as you were before BF2 was released?
Extremely excited, i discovered 1942 back in 2002 when i was in a LAN cafe back then when i did not own a kick ass PC :P played it so much that on our home computer back then i begged my mom to get something called a graphics card lmfao been playing it ever since with the best two mods evar actually three if you count eve of destruction, Desert combat!!!! and of course the lovely Forgotten Hope! then BFV with EoD and other mods :P when i was playing BFV and it was 2005 so BF2 started surfacing on the net, hats when i noticed TBF2 (total battlefield 2) and my God i was insane when i saw the guns and their info and descriptions, the videos of gulf of oman, that was the year i got an Ati radeon to run it, gladly my geforce mx440 burnt out due to cstrike:source but i will never forget that moment of getting BF2 and going nuts in multiplayer and LAN with my brother on FH2 and AIX!!!!!!!!!!!! so the feeling for BF3 is massive! cannot wait man!! come on winter and BF3 my rig is all beefed up for you!
