I remember the months and weeks leading up to BF2 release and couldn't wait to play it. I am starting to feel the same way all over again for BF3. I also remember waiting with aticipation of certain patches for BF2, especially the one that expanded the rank system. Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy.
Are you as excited for BF3 as you were before BF2 was released?

Moreso because I did not want to leave 1942/Vietnam. I thought for sure the rank system and lack of multiplayer bots would be bad and ruin the game.
The birth of the statwhore wasnt too bad and I actually enjoyed messing up their attempts.

I have to admit I have been a stats whore ever since I played DF:BHD for the first time. I was really excited when I heard about JO but was dissapointed that when it was initially released that it didn't have stats and ranks but was added later on in a patch.

Actually I was never that excited for BF2.
I was excited for CoD2, and I was still playing CoD:UO. Then I think I went to a forum where they were talking about BF2 and I thought, "what's a BF2?". So I checked it out and I realized it was releasing the week after I believe. I downloaded the demo and thought it was pretty cool. And then I bought it and loved it.
So I'm obviously more excited for BF3.Battlelog/Origin ID - Hurricane043Comment

Well me I was in primary school being a non gamer when it was relased. Hell, I never even heard of it. I did hear of battlefield 1942 though because my brother played it a bit (Never saw it though) but I was shown BF2 by my cousin in around 2006 or early 07. (can't remember)Comment

Re: Are you as excited for BF3 as you were before BF2 was released?
I thought bf2 had a lack of navy, didnt like the stats(thought that would attract more cheats) hated the commander UAV wall hack and commander death hack arty from the sky to ruin your epic gun battles. Also bf2 only came with 8 or 9 maps and comming from 42 there was like 25 maps or something.
So for me BF has been going down hill slightly since BFV, I was happy with bf2 in the end but BF3?hmmm have to wait and see.Comment

But from your other posts I gather you want BF3 to be more like BF2? I don't think 1942 shipped with 25 maps.Originally posted by RamboI thought bf2 had a lack of navy, didnt like the stats(thought that would attract more cheats) hated the commander UAV wall hack and commander death hack arty from the sky to ruin your epic gun battles. Also bf2 only came with 8 or 9 maps and comming from 42 there was like 25 maps or something.

I was about the point the same thing out.Originally posted by stilla-killaBut from your other posts I gather you want BF3 to be more like BF2? I don't think 1942 shipped with 25 maps.
What he means is that BF1942 had the 25 maps or something at the time that BF2 came out. BF2 actually shipped with 12 maps and ended with 29.Battlelog/Origin ID - Hurricane043Comment

I beg to differ; I'd rather have 5 kickass maps than 50 maps that barely see any play.
I won't disagree however that most maps on BC2 were badly designed for conquest. The rush maps are for the most part very nice to play in.Comment

Re: Are you as excited for BF3 as you were before BF2 was released?
Yeah, the best conquest maps were the ones not designed for rush. Panama Canal, Laguna Presa, Laguna Alta (minus the uncap rape), and Atacama Desert (still suffered from linear bases though) were my favorite maps. The common theme was that they were all conquest maps originally, with rush added in afterwards.Battlelog/Origin ID - Hurricane043Comment

Re: Are you as excited for BF3 as you were before BF2 was released?
Not really because i was never hyped for bf2. I only got to know about it's existence once it was out. I got introduced to it by my cousin :P (the same guy who introduced me to these forums). Before BF2 all i played were singleplayer games, so bf was pretty mutch my first attempt into online gaming. Now talking about bf2142, i think i was more exited about bf2142 and bfbc2 than for bf3, probably because i am already taking in account that bf3 wont run very well on my system and i wont be able to play it as i wish i couldComment

I'd say i'm more excited, I was new to battlefield when BF2 came out, now i've not had any decent games to play since I got sick of MW - so bring on the shiney!Comment
