No, only multiplayer of ArmA 2 is free. Free to play arma 2 lacks mod support, singleplayer campaign, and a few other things. I'm not sure but it may or may not lack the training mode.

Well it better be free to play cos Im not paying 40 dollars on steam for a 2 year old game that is not finished >

I went in today and CoD4 is 20 bucks, I go over to look at ARMA and wtf; almost full price? still?

and then I come here and start checking out stuff and I am paying 40 bucks to rely on modders to provide me with content? thanks but no Thanks.

EDIT: ok, can we get a more obviously retouched live footage for our teasers please? At least DICE is labeling their release candidates as pre-alpha builds. Man now I am pissed.

        Re: ARMA 3 officially announced

In arma 2 you get more content than battlefield/COD its just the community multiplies that by 100. Its like BF2 with PR, BF2 on its own is good, But PR adds something. Its the same as Arma 2 and its mods.

Also in its current state. Arma 2 is finished. Also you can Get combined operations for $30 off amazon. Which is arma 2 and the Standalone expansion operation arrowhead.

Play the game before complaining about the 'incomplete' game.

Also Arma 3 isnt out for another year. And they have said that the new animation engine hasnt been fully implemented and the physics need tweaking.

ArmA 2 is finished... its just not for everyone. Its a simulator. Its not made for the spectacle of it, but even so, it does make for some intense scenarios.

I can't wait for this! I was just googling like a few weeks ago about if they were working on Arma 3 and long and behold here it is! It looks amazing, and I really hope they release it a little more stable than Arma II. Arma 2 was a-lot of fun but me and a lot of others had a-lot of stability problems with it.
