i think in tom clancys vegas 2 you could do the same but i remember doing it and it looked like crap. Actually never though of people who could put their balls or their cat in front of the cam

That's exactly what was in Operation Flashpoint, on a team of 20 players you had maybe 1-2 with normal face.

Why not just some kind of facial reconigtion software into the game so you can actually put your face on the in game character model.

A) It will look like crap compared to the artwork designed for the character models
B) People complain about Russians using M60s, but will have no problems with Chinese with large red beards?

Nah, we're not in the era of Max Payne with just a texture on the face, it's a lot of work to have a decent face (best thing I've seen is Eve online) and you have to send the data of your face to the 63 others players. It was possible in Operation Flashpoint, and every players had Bush, Osama, smiley face and silly things like that.

My guess is they will allow you to choose premade skins and face and some others customization things, which is enough.

Yes but the requirement to unlock the black skin should be to play 150 hours with a ku klux klan outfit.

I like what Medal of Honor Allied Assault did, they allowed you to select the skin you wanted to use online.

Its been a while, but as far as I recall the US are the aggressors in most BF2 maps. I kind of liked that, it was a nice break from the norm.
Same with BF2142, it wasn't about good or evil, but survival.

I don't really want people to focus on ethnicity or nationality in a game like this, nothing good will come from that.

Seriously it's a game, I'm white and I have no problems when I take a black guy in a game (especially BF where you're in first person view and you change classes often). I say Jerome have a problem.

The engineer in bf2 is a white guy. The anti-tank and the heavymachinegun guy (the one with the ammobags) are the oness who are black. I guess you are confusing with bfbc2 because the engineer and anti-tank are mixed together.

Same here, but I'm just saying it'd be cool in a way.

I know for me personally I feel more immersed into the game when the character looks more similar to me but that doesn't mean i'm not going to pick a heavy machine gun because he's black. In BF you don't ever even see yourself anyway(besides hands) and most of the time you'll have gloves on. I wouldn't be surprised though if they added in a customize character option in BF3 because I saw one in BF P4F.

Yeah, I agree. Its not like I don't play any other kit because of this and that but its just kinda cool to see it included.

But refusing to play anything but your own skin colour? What would we think of a pale-face that refused to play as an Engineer because the character is black?
I couldnt even tell you what "races" the different classes has, I dont look much like a marine regardless of skin colour, so why care?

It's not that he refuses or people refuses it's just that by EA implementing it in, it makes some players feel some kinda included

Im just wondering, does it matter? They are all probably going to wind up dead and covered in blood (or in battlefield 2's case: Dust) anyway. Im pretty sure that would encourage people to say "OMG! The have pictures of minorities killed in that evil child hating game!"

Well that last bit is a bit of a stretch, but is it really neccesary? sure, variations are a must, but its not like its going to be a deal breaker. And this comes from a tanned-New Zealand-Maori-Phillipino multi-caste here.
