I was considering an upgrade from my home rig which was built in 2007, so you can imagine the type of hardware lol, a E8400 procs 3.0ghz stock, with an 8800GTX 2GB ram, p45 mobo lmfao, then i thought hmm maybe my university rig i built in my flat over at Newcastle an I5 750 stock, 1156 mobo, GTX260, 2GB ram, i dont know, luckily though i graduated this year and some money fell on my lap from my grandma and aunt so that gave me enough for an I7 960, asus RoG 1366 mobo, GTX570 2TB drive, 4GB ddr3 ram, 750 corsair psu and a nice green nvidia cm690 case with a 24inch LED monitor to go with lmfao, i was hoping badly and now i got it :P anyways BFBC2 run at the same settings on my old 2007 comp at the same res and settings as vreki except the anistropic and AA were off.

After the Alpha I'm happy with my current rig. I might pick up a new video card in winter.

Same here. I was able to run everything maxed with zero lag.

What's your framerate on BC2 with that setup and at what settings? I am gonna be missing like 300 bucks for my 2500k and I was thinking of "settling" with either an x4 or x6 6 GB of ram and a radeon 6870; since apparently I can't get a GTX 560 or 570 :P

I got a 955 and a 6970, and that gives me somthing like this:

That heat dissipates pretty quickly. The monitor on the other hand gives off much more heat.

I personally believe that with the current cards on the market you'll need at least two to get decent FPS.

I'm willing to bet that the "recommended" specs will still be crawling in the fps area with stuff like AA on.

Dude, 90c. Stuff starts to fry around 95-100

absolutely misinformed like 90% of gamers who spend 100s of dollars on retarded cases that do nothing but help the collection of dust.

This CPU has performed extremely well reaching temps of 98C under load for well over 2 years now.

absolutely no reason to be paranoid of a q6600 in the 70s

Modern CPU thermal sensors would need to read over 120C before internal components reached temps of melting points which are probably 600C or higher.

This doesn't mean that transistors can effectively operate at high temps even below melting points. Many CPUs especially older ones would have too much resistance even well below 90C to keep operating normally.

If you are getting temps as high as I do and you aren't overclocking like I am then it's a sign that something is failing or faulty. I don't advise anyone to run their CPUs at 90C... but spending $100 or more for cooling because your CPU is running in the 70s under load is like putting an AC unit in a house located in Nuuk, Greenland.

My 8800s idled at around 78C and usually sat in the upper 80s lower 90s under extreme load. Perfectly normal and expected for the cards I had.

The Panasonic toughbook's my crew had at work ran all summer long sitting in a trucks with no AC in texas heat and the windows rolled up with cpu temps going above 100C for many years.

Going to be upgrading with a overclockers bundle. i7 overtclocked to 4ghz. The onkly other thing will be a new power supply. My Gfx card should be sufficient as its an 5770
