Same here. Try creating a single player or LAN game first, then disconnect and try connecting. I had to do this before I was able to play MP for the first time (I think it's a bug with the shader optimiser in Win7) but now it works just fine. Before I did this I was having the same problem where I'd join a server, load the map, and CTD as soon as I tried to spawn in.

FWIW, I'm running as admin but not in any compatibility mode and nothing disabled (e.g. visual themes).
