Same here. And, like Crunch, I don't have Black Ops (in fact, the last CoD game I bought was CoD2, and that was for my dad because he played a lot of single player FPS).

I choose other, because sandbox singleplayer or bot support are my make or break factors, if it doesn't have any kind of bot support might aswell forget for me, i'll just stick with BC2.

CoD's have just gone downhill since UO for PC gamers.

This statement does hold some weight:thumbsup: , even if you were blind or stuck in a cave for years and hear the letters "BF" and then "3". You would be like:yay: , but this will only be true if its a true sequel to BF2 or 42 IMO:salute:.

To tell you the truth i hope its a WW2 (1942) sequel, i am getting a bit tired of modern warfare.

it just isn't battlefield if i cant spend all day walking across a map. Give me BFBC2 tweaked ofccourse with massive maps, jets, full scale 64 man battles and for the love of god mod support and I will be happy as a clam for the next 8 years.

Re: Whats your make or break factor?

If BF3 fail to meet my expectations this time around there's others good games like RO2 so I can clearly see myself not buying it, like I did with MW2/BO.

Edit : I can clearly see myself, not I can't

The reason they couldn't give mod support for BC2 was explained. I doubt they'll be able to do it for BF3 too.

The only reason i read was "the engine would be too hard to use for modders"?

I think they are under estimating some mod teams out there.

Still your right Kylee, i would not expect it, But its a real shame.
Do Mods take away there money because there so damn well done?.

I don't think that was the reason exactly, and they don't lose anything from modding really... People just play the game longer.

Yeah they play it longer for like 3yrs for 1942 and 5 years for bf2, but thats only forced by them being lazy.I think of all that money they missed out on if they only released a new BF every 2 years like other brand name games.

From a money point of view it makes no sence for a game to last that long, although it is epic lol

yes, they did and with their track record of telling the truth I'm gonna assume it was BS, I'll go as far to say you will never see a DICE game ever again with mod tools but it isn't because it's too hard, it's because it's bad for business these days when you cant nickle and dime your community to the point of vacancy. I'm sure BF3 will have all kinds of pretty little uniforms you can pay $5 each for.

                          They really are.

Releasing mod tools doesn't hurt any developer's next title's sales if the game was going to be good anyway. If anything it helps it since people can look forward to mods being released and community contributors can look for forward to an updated engine with more features to work with. Community contributors move on to the next game too.

Kalms has always been very straight forward and knows what he's talking about. He also made a pretty elaborate post on why DICE didn't release smaller patches continually, which the purpose of the auto updater was in the first place (can't find it now though). I believe him as he's been a respectable guy so far, but it does make me sceptical as for how likely mod tools are for BF3. Depends on how different the way the engine is setup I guess (according to Kalms, a great deal).

Even Black Ops is getting mod tools. I don't think DICE holds a grudge against modders.

Then again, I am an eternal optimist. :wee:

Yeah you are. 3 months and no mod tools yet for BO. No update on it or any talk.

I'm not a pessimist, but more of a realist. The glass is half full, but I want to know where that other half went

Re: Whats your make or break factor?

If it doesn't have 64 players, jets, and large maps then i won't want to buy it. I know a lot of people might not be able to control themselves for the "new thing" but I feel PC gamers have higher standards since they spend a lot more on their PCs to run it. Games like BF2, 1942, they were reasons to be a PC gamer, we all expect BF3 to continually be that reason again because if it's not we just won't buy it. BC2 I purchased knowing it wasn't BF3 and wanted it to try out destructible environments. Now I have a game for that so BF3 has to be more..a lot more. Flying(Jets and Helos) were a massive part of the BF series and right now if the maps are BC's size it's a joke. In a matter of seconds your out of the zone and that just ripps apart the immersion. BF's maps aren't just huge but have flags everywhere to capture. This makes the battlefield the entire map all over, and not just along one river or path.
This is what people expect honestly:
+Large maps (BF2/1942 size or bigger)
                                +Vehicles
                                +Jets and Helos
                                +Prone
+64 players or more(even if not recommended)
                                +Mod support
                                +Destructible environments
+Balance, Balance, and most importantly Balance
