I think the speculation that you'll need to upgrade is a very large waste of time, and has just become another part of the PC gaming culture's bad habits. BF2 was a fairly demanding game, but that was a different engine on a different API on a different operating system, with totally different hardware running it, there is ZERO correlation.

All we know about the engine is it's Frostbite 2.0. Are there any Minimum requirements, well only one so far, Vista or windows 7. Hardware wise NOTHING. Player count? not yet, perhaps with that we can roughly scale the performance requirements for Bad company 2 with 32 players.

Let's just wait for facts, maybe write down our hopes, but already making up things to whine about, just proves that while Games are art, gamers aren't much more then spoiled brats, we as a group need to mature beyond just the average age, and get back to helping the people making the art we spend our time on, like we did in the 90's.

I just upgraded a year and a half ago (so I could play BF1943 on high...guess that lol's on me ) so I'm hoping at worst case I'll have to buy another 285GTX for SLI to run BF3 on high. Otherwise I may just have to settle for medium settings on this one (this rig BETTER be able to run it on at least medium...8GB RAM and a quad core Phenom II). Can't really justify dropping a grand just to play one game anymore, even if it is BF3. But if it's as good as I'm praying it'll be I'd sure be temped.

Rocketchild: This time around I don't feel like building a computer, being lazy lol but will probably instead buy one from Alienware or something like that once I have the money.

Right now I am having fun playing COD:BO with friends on Xbox.

I recall very well, more then a year before it was released, video of that guy Colin, chewing gum at a presentation, of trial video of the physics in the game. At this point, it was well with-in the alpha stage.

And you're right Stilla, time to start saving for a new machine, my current rig is still pretty damn strong, but boy, if BF2 is an example, I sure hope I'm not going to have to do more then get a second GPU for SLI.

Aw crap...looks like the hype machine is starting to spin:

Dammit DICE, I'm starting to look forward to this game now. I was going to hold off excitement until I heard more details and remain my curmudgeon-y cynical self and continue to whine about BC2 but you're making it awfully hard to do that now.

My brain is telling me I'm just setting myself up for an even bigger fall now, but dammit it's hard not to get excited when you hear news like that.

Agreed, you think you would have at least saw some kind of trial or ingame test footage previewed from DiCE if it was less then a year away.

The other thing that scares me is they say "competing against CoD". I sure hope this means we wont see BF4 next year and BF5 the year after that.

Ok personally when they say "launch", this could mean anything from launching advertising to launching the actual game. If theoretically they are saying the game could be 6 months away there is still very little kn0own about it and no gameplay footage to its name yet.

Im still sticking with my Q1 2012 release date as it will only get delayed anyway.
