I feel like playing some BF2 again now. Is there still a large player base here in Australia?

Re: BF3 not for Windows XP

If you look at the Steam hardware surveys almost no gaming systems are running dx9 video cards. Also windows 7 and the 64 bit versions specifically are killing xp for gamers. So this isn't going to be a big deal by the time this game actually comes out. Xp will slowly have to die out, and this will be one more nail.

It's amazing that only 10% have dx9 or lower Gpu's but 25% have XP still. No one is loyal to old slow hardware, but a OS is harder to give up for some. I think some people just got used to XP as their first real OS they knew some what, but if you've been around since the DOS days, you know change can be tough, but it's better in the end, even if it takes a bunch of updates to the OS. Then again I jumped the XP ship when vista came out.

I wouldn't mind 2 min load times with 1 min of that at 64% if BF3 was the BF we've been waiting for and not just BC3. Im hoping that BF3 console and PC version are two seperate version, if so THANK YOU DICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! If not

I'll never understand that... as soon as I switched to Win7 from XP it was like a light from heaven was shining onto my monitor and a chorus of angels was dancing through my speakers.

Vista SP1 and better isn't all too bad really... wasn't too good at release though, and W7 is still much better. :p

Yeah I dont find it as bad as people say it is, then I remember that quite often people neglect to update their systems...

Frostbite 2.0. And if that is written for DX11 from day one, we could se a very different result.

I dont think it is that strange. Upgrading your GFX card is fairly straightforward, you just need the courage to open your case.
But an OS upgrade is a bit more intimidating, especially if you have a bunch of old crap that you want to move over to the new OS.
I mean, most people still think "dual-boot" is some kind of footwear.

Its about time. I mean I understand if you're just looking for a stable OS to do casual computing on, but if you're a gamer, there's no excuse not to have jumped to 7 yet. Its not Vista. And frankly I like the idea of things being different between PC and Consoles. There's an obviously different following on the two gameplay wise. (Big maps, prone, vehicles, planes etc etc plz?)

Sorry that is actually very incorrect, Windows 7 is very much based off of vista, think of it more like a service pack. What it really was is a Public relations service pack, since the public at large is still unwilling to put up with the teething period of a actually new operating system. Anyone here remember the first few years of XP? Most operating systems go through periods like this, Mac OSx, linux, now even phone OSes are running into these kinds of stumbles, Android 2.0x and iOS4 both had all kinds of issues off the bat, they take a while to iron out.
