A 3-core CPU? I hope that means that the game is optimized for multiple cores.

I think CoD4 had better character models and lighting effects, but WaW had better textures and dynamic effects

It really did not have better textures at all though. I cant find it but there was even a thread on here comparing CoD2's weapons to W@W's and they looked way better. WaW also ran much worse for me than MW1/2 with no real visual impact to justify that.

Also, texture steaming is supposed to help with performance not impact on it and it allows better visuals close up. Also it leads to less stuttering at the start of levels. Sure just having more dynamic lights and higher poly characters will impact on performance but I still find it hard to believe they have done anything worth while to justify those specs.

Which is why I said:

In W@W's case it was poor optimization, if I remember correctly. It didn't look much better than CoD4.

And BO seems to follow suit. I think it looks the same or worse than MW2, yet my framerate and overall performance is MUCH worse.

I take back what I said about textures :P

Black Op's graphics are very disappointing. And as mentioned, it is poorly optimized. I can run BC2 on high settings with 70+ FPS, yet I can't play this game on medium-high without frequent FPS drops? There is no seamless feel to Black Ops. BC2 felt the same way in the beta stages, but they've fixed most of the problems since then.

I was actually pleasantly surprised with its performance. For my cpu not meeting the min req the game plays pretty damn smooth.

man that thread is hard to see with the narrow space on the forums here.... have you guys considered expanding the forum space? most images get cut off and even youtube videos can't be seen fully... why make it so narrow anyways?

Im glad its not just me who thinks that way Minmaster, half of the actual space on my screen is taken up by a huge blank border either side.

Graphics are pretty good. Not anything amazing but it does the job well. Engine optimization on the other hand...
