    PC specs released

    * OS: Windows Vista/XP/7
    * Processor:Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 or AMD Phenom X3 8750 or better
    * Memory: 2 GB
    * HDD: 12 GB
    * Video: Shader 3.0 or better 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT / ATI Radeon X1950Pro or better
    * Sound: DirectX 9.0c-compatible
    * DirectX: 9.0c

    The minimum specs required to run Call of Duty: Black Ops on a PC have blown their cover and are out in the open.

    Quite a bit more demanding than MW2, especially on the CPU front. This is a pretty good indication the game is pretty much done and we might get some more PC specific info soon. :)

    Can't edit topic name... should say Minimum PC specs :x Or maybe it's recommended. Who knows.

    Re: PC specs released

    MW2 Specs for comparison:

    OS: Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 (Windows 95/98/ME/2000 are unsupported)
    Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor or better supported
    Memory: 1GB RAM
    Graphics: 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT or better or ATI Radeon 1600XT or better
    DirectX: Microsoft DirectX(R) 9.0c
    Hard Drive: 12GB of free hard drive space
    Sound: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

    This game should look pretty good on the PC, contrary to what I thought.

    EDIT: Bad Company 2 Specs for more comparison:

    Processor: Core 2 Duo @ 2.0GHz
    Main memory: 2GB
    Graphics card: GeForce 7800 GT / ATI X1900
    Graphics memory: 256MB
    OS: Windows XP
    Free HDD space: 15GB for Digital Version, 10GB for Disc Version (BFBC2)
    10GB for Digital Version, 4GB for Disc Version (BF1943)

    Anyone else find it hard to believe BO is more demanding than BC2? I wonder if it really is that improved graphically or Treyarch just can't optimize the game very well.

      I think its a place holder for D2D. Those specs seem really high. BO doesnt seem anymore visual than MW2. The only reason I could think why it would need to be this high is because of all the custom skins and things on the weapons and your avatar face. I wouldnt think it would be that much.

        You have to remember, this is still a game made for the X360. Those requirements look inflated.

          While the requirements very well could be inflated, it's not entirely unlikely for them to be that high. Treyarch have done a lot of work with the waw engine, it's not nearly the same thing as the MW2 engine.

          2.28 forwards.

            All I see is that they've added MW2's new graphics features to what they had in W@W. If they can make this scale to an Xbox 360, why would they need to require so much more from a PC? It would just cost them sales, and therefore money.

              360's only have 512MB of RAM, so unless the PC version was actually developed somewhat separately from consoles, it's inflated.

                Again, we agree on something.

                      Yup. Gonna be fun to see what justifies those specs though (terrible optimisation or added eye candy?)

                        In W@W's case it was poor optimization, if I remember correctly. It didn't look much better than CoD4.

                          WaW had exactly the same system requirements as CoD4, except the minimum process was a P4 @ 3.0 ghz in WaW and in CoD4 is was a P4 @ 2.4 ghz.

                          I think CoD4 had better character models and lighting effects, but WaW had better textures and dynamic effects.
