yea i'm not saying that soldier is directly from BF3, but the fact they're using that soldier likely means that it will be a modern military setting.

and no, that's not the BC2 flaming guy, that guy is holding the rifle differently.

lol people were so sick of WW2 so they make modern warfare game and now we are sick of modern. now games are moving to vietnam and cold war.

yea WWI could be interesting but no devs want to touch it. same with korean war. at least korean war had some interesting vehicles and stuff, they could recreat MiG alley and make it an all jets map.

By same old grind, I meant the gameplay, not the setting.

The only main difference between WWII and modern shooters are bolt-action rifles vs assault rifles. The rest is up to the devs.

Reminds me of all the hopes I had with BF2142, with sci-fi offering significant creative freedom. It doesnt matter if its modern, premodern or postmodern. If the devs cant pull it off, setting wont matter. Considering the promotional work for BF3 is similar to the trend we see today, I wouldnt expect anything that much different, groundbreaking or actually good.

They really need to get back to their roots of BF2/BF1942 if they want BF3 to be noteworthy. If it goes more the way of BC2 with small maps, few vehicles, low player counts, and a focus on urban-type infantry combat, it's going to fail hard. Personally I'm fine with World War 2 or modern combat...so long as the gameplay is fun and has replay value it won't matter the setting.

They could make a WW1 game with tanks and planes, it just don't need to be realistic. There was a WW1 mod on BF1942 and a dogfight mod on BF2 from the same mod and it was ok. I can clearly see myself storming trenches with dual lugers.

i voted yay because i really dont have a preference of what era BF3 will be in, its battlefield, doesn't really matter it'll be awesome anyway
