Re: Minimum PC requirments?
Wonder what the requirements will be with all the textures (custom face paint and the tags). MW and W@W had the same requirements, but there was a noticeable difference in performance between the two because of all the textures Treyarch crammed into W@W. And here we see 'em doing it again.Comment

Re: Minimum PC requirments?
If you can run MW2 fine, you will be able to run this game fine. However, if you were running MW2 very poorly, you probably won't be able to run this.
The engine is almost exactly the same as MW2 (actually, it is the CoD4 engine edited a bit by Treyarch, but so was MW2, just by IW). There are only a few graphics improvements that will make a noticeable effect on performance, and not even by that much.
I was able to play CoD4, WaW, and MW2 on my outdated, 2003 rig that had a Radeon x300, 1.5 GB RAM, and a P4 @ 3.00 ghz, albeit with very low settings. Obviously the games don't change that much.Battlelog/Origin ID - Hurricane043Comment

Re: Minimum PC requirments?
I could easily play COD4 and W@W as well as BC2 with all settings maxed out at 1440x900 with my dual core 1.8, 2gb RAM and a Nvidia GeForce GTS250. Never tried MW2 on pc. I just have a sneaking suspicion I will lag like crazy in this game.Comment

Re: Minimum PC requirments?
Black Ops is built on a modified WaW engine, with only extremely little code from MW2. So while the specs are probably going to be similar to MW2, you might want to be careful anyway, especially if you already have pretty weak specs.Originally posted by Anarchy1The engine is almost exactly the same as MW2 (actually, it is the CoD4 engine edited a bit by Treyarch, but so was MW2, just by IW). WaW is built on a modified CoD4 engine. Everything goes back to the CoD4 engine. Performance wise, this game is going to be more similar to MW2 than WaW, even though there wasn't really a difference in those two games.Originally posted by iQueBlack Ops is built on a modified WaW engine, with only extremely little code from MW2. Re: Minimum PC requirments?
Not to mention that they are still basically using the Quake 4 engine. While they obviously modified it heavily between CoD and CoD2 and then again between CoD2 and CoD4, the foundation is still Quake 4. Honestly, I think that unless they make their own, updated engine (like DICE) after the release of Black Ops for the next game, it is going to be a flop. They are really pushing it with having the same game over and over again in a different location with new guns and maps and a few new features. After Black Ops they (by they I mean Treyarch) need to do something great to basically renew the series (again, like DICE from BF2 to BC2, although a new game exactly like BF2 would be welcome to meOriginally posted by Minmasterthe engine is getting old. graphics haven't really stepped up since cod4, but i guess with all the success, they don't want to mess with it.

Re: Minimum PC requirments?
id Tech 3 engine, the same engine that was used on the very first call of duty. They have done a ton of work on it but so much of it still remains that they have to credit id in the credits. The engine is beyond geriatric and the games look horrible.Comment
